…and I agree with you and AA. With the caveat that in 5 years time the Yankees rotation will look a heck of a lot different then it looks today with: CC, Kuroda, Pettitte, Hughes, Nova, Phelps and Pineda (god willing his rehab from shoulder surgery goes without a hitch).

Romine will get his chance this season just not in April. Look for him to get some more time and AB’s in Triple A. Don’t be surprised to see him come up by the trade deadline. Then in 2014 or at the very latest the 2015 either Gary Sanchez OR JR Murphy will probably get the call to be behind the plate. Besides both Stewart and especially Cervelli have looked very good defensively catching this spring. Since neither one of them had any minor league options left it made sense that they would stay and Romine head back to minor league camp for the time being.
BTW, I still say anyone who underestimates the Yankees this year is fooling themselves. Their pitching both starters and bullpen have looked extremely strong so far. In my opinion even better then it did last season, That’s just not my opinion he is a quote from the Blue Jays GM as it just recently appeared on MLBTR: The Blue Jays GM pointed out to Joel Sherman of the New York Post that the Yankees won 95 games last year while dealing with significant injuries and suggested that they’ll be a contender again in 2013. “Just look at their rotation,” Anthopoulos said. “You might not want it in five years, but I think just about any team would take their rotation in 2013. Tampa has shown in this division what you can do with a strong rotation.”

24 is still young and he missed too much of last season to be ready for MLB. I assume you meant Stewart rather than Walker. As a Jays fan, I hope that the Yankees have a dismal season; however, this is a team that just finds a way to win and has quite a decent pitching staff.

The “kid” is 24. How much of a prospect can he be if he is still not ready for prime time at 24? Oh thats right, we are talking the new regime Yankees here where anyone under 38 is a youngster. Maybe when he hits his mid 30′s he will be ready. Plus we have the power hitting duo of Walker & Cervelli already behind the plate. It would be foolish to breakup that tandem. Please, Juan Rivera at 1st? Youklis at 3rd AND batting cleanup? Could anything be more indicative of the dismal season the Yankees fans are facing this year? Hank, get a grip! Is reality setting in for you yet?

The kid needs more experience in Triple A. I am sure that some Yankee fans will be disappointed, but this is a wise move.
