Two years ago his fastball was clocked at 94mph. Last year his fastest was only 88mph. Yesterday he got one pitch to hit 87mph.
He retired 8 batters but allowed 11 to reach base. Plus one wild pitch. If he can’t go the Phillies are done.
Washington & Atlanta are real strong.

It’s a bummer the Roy Halladay is getting roughed up in spring training? Don’t read too much into spring training. If he’s getting hit hard when the real games begin then you can start to be worried.

What truth would that be?

There is also no reason to expect Halladay to just give up rather than to figure out the problem and try to fix it. If every pitcher that experienced temporary struggles and velocity loss quit because of some alleged truth, all would be retired by the time they were 25.

If Halladay does flame out (not saying he will), then he’ll be an interesting case study when it comes to the study of innings limits and pitch counts.

He is probably shot (and I am a Phillies fan). But, i like his excuse – it’s better than what Josh Hamilton gave in September last year with Texas!

Roy knows the truth, and if this is where his new reality resides, he’ll be hosting a press conference sooner rather than later. No way Doc hangs around just to collect a check (no matter how enormous).
