This is frightening: Twins pitcher Deolis Guerra, who was diagnosed with a blood clot over the weekend, has been moved into intensive care. He’s feeling fine, but the thrombosis in his shoulder is such that it requires constant monitoring.

Guerra is expected to miss three months following surgery. But given how serious blood clots like this can be, pitching is the least of his concerns at the moment.

Blood clots are no joke, hope he makes a full recovery

Good thing the twins training staff didn’t miss diagnose this one.

What do you mean? They sent him in to get a flu shot. In all seriousness though, clots can be a tricky, nasty thing to deal with. Just lost my oldest friend this past summer to a clot. He’d found out he had diabetes and they started him on blood thinners (for circulation); 2 weeks later he was dead of a blood clot which had detached and snagged itself in his heart, causing a massive attack.
