Stanton is back in action after being left out of Sunday evening’s 9-4 victory over Team Canada.

Santiago, Puerto Rico’s starting pitcher for this one, had a 5.70 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 47 1/3 innings with the Royals’ Triple-A affiliate in 2011. The 28-year-old right-hander did not pitch in MLB-affiliated ball in 2012.

Torre will have him lay down a bunt.

      In the first inning.

Impressive catch by the Iron Giant. Good game so far…They interviewed David Samson who did his best Trump/car salesman pitch for how great the stadium is and its incalculable value in Miami.

        God, that thing is hideous.

        Samson or the stadium?

You have to love a lineup that has the worst two hitters batting first and second – this is the kind of unconventional out of the box thinking that Jim Kaat loves.

The worst hitter is batting 6th and the most puzzling fact is that your best fielder is DHing. Why not DH Stanton or Braun?

    • Old Gator - Mar 12, 2013 at 11:19 PM

The Iron Giant happens to be a fine fielder with a howitzer for an arm.

I’d ask if a monkey filled out this lineup, but I’m not so sure a monkey wouldn’t have done a better job. This begs the question, has Torre watched any baseball in the last three years? Mauer in cleanup and Stanton batting 8th? Really?

    • Old Gator - Mar 12, 2013 at 11:20 PM

      It’s not real. It’s Memorex.

Move mauer to second and put stanton fourth. At least i would, zobrist might even be better second in order, stanton fourth and mauer sixth depending on pitcher. That lineup is a hot mess.
