Except for the fact that both of those teams practically print money, so while expensive and possibly mistakes, either of those teams can just pay it and not feel any real regret while still making money.

Absolutley MJ. Allen Craig can flat out hit. He has hit at every level.
If there is one thing he can do…it’s hit. And run the bases (as you mentioned).
If anyone needs to know one thing about Allen Craig…it’s his impressive ability to hit a baseball.
Wait….I think we covered this a week or so ago. If not…you should know Allen Craig can hit.

Completely true, but OPS+ is a pretty crappy metric as it weights SLUG far too heavily. If you use wRC+ (which more properly weights OBP and adjusts for park effects), Pujols had a still very solid 132, which is not as good as Chipper’s career 141 wRC+.

Yep, he is still really freaking good, just not the best hitter in baseball anymore.

That 141 OPS+ that was the worst season of his career is same as the career OPS+ for Chipper Jones. Only 8 other active players have an OPS+ of 141 or above (min 1000 PAs) for their career. It’s worth remembering that Albert at his worst (so far) is still really freakin’ good.
