The West Michigan Whitecaps are known for introducing crazy concessions each year. They may have outdone themselves: the Baco. Or a taco with a BACON SHELL.
There’s a pic of it at the linked article and it’s … glorious.
Chances of me going to see the Whitecaps play this season: incredibly high.

Ohboy. Bacon freak here. Hope it’s low-sodium, low-nitrate bacon. Turkey bacon, even. But if not? Dying miserably is a sure sign of having lived to well!

Ordinarily Gator, I’m with you. BUT my doctor took a look at my blood and said “You should know better”. I felt shame as well as the bony hand of mortality on my shoulder. Now I’m like a guy who just gave up smoking: I’m proselytizing like a mo-fo.

I read here in the Sharia Porcus that those who proselytize against the Divine Rasher must wear a bacon grease stain on their t-shirt so that the innocent gourmand can see them coming and undertake defensive maneuvers.

Oh no. The spousal unit is going to go cuckoo for this. Thank goodness we’re not within easy driving distance of this, or else there’d be a roadtrip in my future.

I like bacon, but that looks like overkill to my taste buds. Your results may vary.

Agreed. Upon reading about it, I was intrigued. However, after looking at the picture……a tad too gimmicky for my taste. Couldn’t you just load up a standard taco with some ground beef and lay a few strips of bacon in there as well.
To each his own.

I can’t tell if there’s meat in this thing or just, like, lettuce and pico. I think I’d rather just have a carnitas taco in a normal tortilla.

Yeah, it does look like just lettuce and pico. It that’s the case, I would rather just have a BLT.
Now, if they filled it with Frito Pie…THAT would be a classic ballpark treat!

Holy shit, that thing looks a-ma-zing. Since I have no plans to ever visit the West Michigan Whitecaps, I searched for a recipe immediately. Basically, all you need to do is weave the bacon together, then bake it on a home made aluminum taco shell mold until crispy: http://baclog.blogspot.com/2008/03/new-feature-ultimate-contribution-to.html

One can never have too much bacon (and I say that as someone who’s generally VERY health conscious).
I mean, I’m not a monk. I’ll splurge every now and then for a special occasion.

Haha!!! Good to be seeing my Whitecaps getting some attention again. I don’t think anything would beat the fifth-third burger, though. Maybe the ‘Caps will be featured on another episode of ‘Man vs. Food’ like they were a few years ago.
