Bacon taco shell at a ballpark? Game changer.

Mar 14, 2013, 2:30 PM EDT

Bacon

The West Michigan Whitecaps are known for introducing crazy concessions each year. They may have outdone themselves: the Baco. Or a taco with a BACON SHELL.

There’s a pic of it at the linked article and it’s … glorious.

Chances of me going to see the Whitecaps play this season: incredibly high.

Chances of Craig’s cholesterol reaching “weapon’s grade”: incredibly high.

The guy/gal who came up with this taco: incredibly high.

    • kevinbnyc - Mar 14, 2013 at 5:05 PM

      WORTH IT.

Ohboy. Bacon freak here. Hope it’s low-sodium, low-nitrate bacon. Turkey bacon, even. But if not? Dying miserably is a sure sign of having lived to well!

Ordinarily Gator, I’m with you. BUT my doctor took a look at my blood and said “You should know better”. I felt shame as well as the bony hand of mortality on my shoulder. Now I’m like a guy who just gave up smoking: I’m proselytizing like a mo-fo.

      • Old Gator - Mar 15, 2013 at 11:33 AM

I read here in the Sharia Porcus that those who proselytize against the Divine Rasher must wear a bacon grease stain on their t-shirt so that the innocent gourmand can see them coming and undertake defensive maneuvers.

Say hello to my family while you’re there.

  3. professormaddog31 - Mar 14, 2013 at 2:41 PM

Oh no. The spousal unit is going to go cuckoo for this. Thank goodness we’re not within easy driving distance of this, or else there’d be a roadtrip in my future.

I like bacon, but that looks like overkill to my taste buds. Your results may vary.

    • nolanwiffle - Mar 14, 2013 at 3:48 PM

Agreed. Upon reading about it, I was intrigued. However, after looking at the picture……a tad too gimmicky for my taste. Couldn’t you just load up a standard taco with some ground beef and lay a few strips of bacon in there as well.

      To each his own.

If you’ve never had one they are great

  6. jeffa43 - Mar 14, 2013 at 2:59 PM

I eat bacon 2 to 3 times a day and I am in the B.S.O.M.L….

    • Ralph - Mar 14, 2013 at 3:11 PM

      Oh, hi CC!

      • deathmonkey41 - Mar 14, 2013 at 3:50 PM

He said Bacon- not Captain Crunch!

  7. pipkin42 - Mar 14, 2013 at 3:05 PM

I can’t tell if there’s meat in this thing or just, like, lettuce and pico. I think I’d rather just have a carnitas taco in a normal tortilla.

    • apmn - Mar 14, 2013 at 4:08 PM

Yeah, it does look like just lettuce and pico. It that’s the case, I would rather just have a BLT.

Now, if they filled it with Frito Pie…THAT would be a classic ballpark treat!

Holy shit, that thing looks a-ma-zing. Since I have no plans to ever visit the West Michigan Whitecaps, I searched for a recipe immediately. Basically, all you need to do is weave the bacon together, then bake it on a home made aluminum taco shell mold until crispy: http://baclog.blogspot.com/2008/03/new-feature-ultimate-contribution-to.html

Reading this post clogged my arteries.

    It’s bacon!!!

  11. aceshigh11 - Mar 14, 2013 at 4:04 PM

One can never have too much bacon (and I say that as someone who’s generally VERY health conscious).

I mean, I’m not a monk. I’ll splurge every now and then for a special occasion.

  12. philliesblow - Mar 14, 2013 at 4:47 PM

Todd Fisher from the United States of Bacon show will be going whole hog on this one.

  13. Brian Murphy - Mar 14, 2013 at 6:33 PM

I can’t wait for Paul Bako to sign an endorsement deal.

  14. Jonny 5 - Mar 14, 2013 at 7:18 PM

This has nothing on the bacon turtle burger.

  15. Jonny 5 - Mar 14, 2013 at 7:20 PM

Great now I really want a bacon turtle burger. Thanks a lot!

  16. Minoring In Baseball - Mar 15, 2013 at 2:42 AM

Haha!!! Good to be seeing my Whitecaps getting some attention again. I don’t think anything would beat the fifth-third burger, though. Maybe the ‘Caps will be featured on another episode of ‘Man vs. Food’ like they were a few years ago.
