ACE?????? Yes, qeezy… ACE! Did, I stutter?? Whats so hard to understand about that? Any intelligent baseball fan that knows that he had the best winning % of any starter in EITHER league last year. Couple that with the fact the he was top 5 in ERA, WHIP and innings pitched id say that his success has nothing to do with run support. How does run support effect WHIP and ERA?? And to say that he is a “Back of the rotation” starter is just plain silly. And the years in which he was hurt i dont think is a fair judge of his talent level do you? Ever since he got together with Dave Duncan he’s been nailz in all of his healthy seasons. Id not saying that’ll get his agents contract demands fulfilled but to say he’s a back of the rotation starter is a foolish comment. So, like i said… GET A CLUE DUMMY!!!!

ACE? 5 winning seasons in 12 years and you think he’s an ace? Sure he’s been solid the past 2 years pitching for a team that provides him run support, but given his age, no team will pay him the money he’s seeking to become their ace.

How many times do I have to write this. His 2009-2010 seasons were marred by a freak forearm sheath injury due to a HBP. His last 3 healthy seasons in St. Louis were excellent and progressively better.

One of the contending teams will have a bad start to the season or have a pitcher injured early and will become desperate. That’s how Lohse gets a deal. Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Texas. One of these teams. They have the money to throw around.

HQ, The issue is his past health history and the fact the team who signs him will forfeit a 1st round draft pick as compensation to St Louis. I would like to see the Brewers sign him to a 3 year deal for 30 mil, but we’ve had really bad luck signing free agent pitchers, especially those from St Louis. No team will forfeit a 1st rounder for a 1 year deal and every team is being cautious with him.

Absolutely. Because of his age and his up-and-down history, he’s a prime candidate for a one year deal. But no team in their right mind will offer him a one year deal in exchange for a draft pick.

That’s part of it. The other part is he’s 34 and looked at as being a product of the Dave Duncan repair shop. Even with that only 3 out of his 5 seasons in St. Louis were outstanding, injuries those two bad years aside. Top that with him wanting a three year deal and the loss of the draft pick, and yeah, he’s outside looking in.

Snark aside, I fully expect Boras to get him a good contract. I don’t know how he does it, but he seems to come through for his clients every year.

The fact that he isn’t signed has got to be because of the draft compensation. It’s really unfortunate that a team can’t sign him to a one-year contract without losing more than his value is worth.

Boras always trying to create a big market for his players. Come on Scotty! We all know your strategy. If someone wanted to sign Lohse then he would’ve been signed already, but you’re probably asking for a big 50 carat diamond! With that being said, Lohse is definitely a solid back end of the rotation starting pitcher though. He just has to be valued at an affordable cost.
