The Mariners’ promotional videos are out

Mar 14, 2013, 10:30 AM EDT

Ever since “Larry Bernandez” tried to sneak his way on the mound, the Mariners have been the gold standard of the spring promotional video. Really, for something designed simply to sell tickets, the M’s have elevated the genre into something close to art.  Well, OK, maybe that’s saying too much, but they really are damn entertaining.

So I am overjoyed that the new ones are out. And that they do not disappoint. For example:

You can see all of them here.  And if anyone wants to buy me some King Feliz High Heat Hot Sauce make sure it comes to my attention c/o NBC Sports.

Let’s face it when it comes to “cool”, the Northwest leaves the rest of the U.S. in the dust.

Craig, you have to keep in mind that Seattle is the town that brought us Gary Larson, the original Crapper, Lenin in Fremont and Cow Chip Cookies. What did you expect?

Years ago, there was a hilarious set of M’s commercials that looked at what certain Mariners might do if they weren’t baseball players. One had Lou Piniella as a psychiatrist, totally jumping on someone who wasn’t “sharing” the way he wanted him to….and Randy Johnson as a knife thrower in a circus. They show him throwing one and then suddenly wincing as a shriek comes from off camera. These were HILARIOUS! Also, Brendan Ryan does a pretty great DeNiro impression. He might have a career in acting if this baseball thing doesn’t work out.

Like I said, hometown of Gary “The Far Side” Larson. Must be something in the water.

I totally loved the one with Jamie Moyer and his long, long career in MLB. “Are you kidding me!?” “We embellished it JUST a little Jamie…”

My favorite is when Adrian Beltre was wearing a glove that was the size of a person!
