Getty Images MLB.com’s Alden Gonzalez reports that Angels southpaw Brandon Sisk is expected to undergo season-ending Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery “within the next couple of weeks.”
The Halos acquired Sisk from the Royals in October for right-handed starter Ervin Santana, who had a $13 million club option for 2013 that Anaheim had no intention of exercising. Sisk posted a superb 2.54 ERA and 73/32 K/BB ratio across 67 1/3 innings last summer at the Triple-A level. He has an excellent 2.59 career ERA in five minor league seasons.
The 27-year-old left-hander probably won’t be game-ready again until next April or May.

Man, a relief pitcher having TJ surgery, how rare. I thought they had to try to start for this to happen.

The Angels have a bullpen pitcher on their staff RIGHT NOW who is a post-TJ guy.

I know. The point is that this happens to pitchers all the time regardless of their role, and to use a few isolated cases of pitchers recently moved to the rotation (e.g. Feliz) as examples of what always happens when teams make such moves is confirmation bias crap…..so I am just reminding those folks that think that Chapman’s arm will explode if he is moved to the rotation but that he’d remain healthy for years as a closer….that there is no evidence to support their opinion.

Maybe he hurt his arm falling out of a airplane bathroom all drunk and coked up like his pappy back in the ’80s?
Like father, like son!
Just kidding Brandon, hope you have a speedy recovery.
