You must be a Dodgers fan, because no one with your ability to use logic and language would make that kind of argument without something serious clouding their judgment.

It's not about whether Lohse would be an upgrade over Aaron Harang. It's pretty clear that he would be an upgrade over Harang (although much less so that he would be any kind of upgrade over Capuano,) should the depth chart be required to go that low. The question is: would he be enough of an upgrade over Harang to justify a three-year contract and the forfeiture of a first round draft pick? These are the margins where such decisions are made.

First off, my avuncularly verdant law giver, as I stated on first glance the Dodgers are loaded with starters. However, only Kershaw and Greinke are better than Lohse, and as stated if Greinke is hurt they need Lohse.

Billingsley, if questionable coming off surgery, and hasn't been very good anyway the past couple of years. Lilly is also coming off an injury and rivals you in age Moses. Harang cannot be counted on in my opinion, and is no better than a fifth starter at best, and while Capuano does have an upside, his career to date has been woeful. And while they made the move for Rys, he is unproven, and so far in Spring Training has struggled mightily.

If this is a must year, as the Dodgers have insisted, they need some solidity. Just having a lot of arms is a fool's paradise; if those arms are injured or substandard. What Lohse offers that the Dodgers lack is certainty, and it would allow them to move a couple of the so-called abundance, cause none of those guys translate into effective relievers.

The best place for Lohse is LA. Not that it is a good place for anybody, but it seems to be the best fit. I know they have an abundance of starters, but with Greinke iffy, they should still make the move. Lohse is, if nothing else solid. He led the league in starts, and was in the top five in quality starts in 2012. Plus Dodger stadium is the kind of park he can excel in and their defense, while not great, is as good as St. Louis' was in 2012.

It's not like the Dodgers don't have the bucks, they are way over the luxury tax penalty so a little more shouldn't have much of an effect. And if my memory serves me Lohse is from Chico, which I believe is more No Cal than So Cal, but still Left Coast.
