In fairness to Hinske, he did have a legitimately good year in 2002. While that turned out to be his career year, he has been good enough to draw a major league paycheck for 11 seasons and counting, picking up two rings along the way. That’s more than most 17th-round picks can say.

Still incredible to me that he won AL ROY in 2004. That three year stretch of Eric Hinske, Angel Berroa and Bobby Crosby winning the AL ROY was putrid.
