Comments on: Derek Jeter could DH on Opening Day

I know I’ll get hammered for saying this (at least 50+ thumbs down, ha ha), but why not shift Jeter over to first base?

Look, everyone, even Yankee diehards have to admit the obvious; Jeter is an awful SS. Coming off of his injury at his age can only limit his already extremely limited range. Nunez is a much better option at SS at this point.

Besides being at first may allow he to play in more games this season; even extend Jeter’s career.

Yankee fans, what would rather have:

a) Jeter remains at SS; doesn’t break Roses’ hit record?
b) Jeter shifts to 1B; extends his career and becomes the all-time hit leader?

I hope his ankle hurts so bad that his butt gets sore.
His range may finally be measurably less that topiary.
He will be the first potted plant to be in the hall of fame.
He may have a species of deck shrub named after him before then.

It’s probably just that the Red Sox’s opening day starter is likely to be Lester so it’s not like Hafner needs to start.

I don’t think Nunez (hands of stone) is a good idea at ss, I would go with Nix instead, at least he can catch and throw the ball.

Between Gardner, Ichiro, and Nunez, the Yankees are going to have a ton of speed this year. Between Gardner and Ichiro they’ll have pretty strong defense, too. Nunez not so much on that one.
