Picture of the Day: Bryce Harper taking season ticket orders

Mar 19, 2013, 2:44 PM EDT

As if hitting .383 with a 1.102 OPS this spring hasn’t kept Bryce Harper busy enough …

It gets harder and harder to not like the guy…

    • cur68 - Mar 19, 2013 at 3:03 PM

      Yep

  2. scoutsaysweitersisabust - Mar 19, 2013 at 2:55 PM

Probably just a publicity stunt, but I have to admit, it’s a pretty good one.

  3. indaburg - Mar 19, 2013 at 3:00 PM

I don’t even like the Nats, and that makes me want to sign up for some tix.

    • natstowngreg - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:07 PM

      Surrender to the Natitude. :)

      • indaburg - Mar 19, 2013 at 6:58 PM

        Never!

  4. darthicarus - Mar 19, 2013 at 3:02 PM

I believe Michael Morse did this with the Mariners a week or two ago. I’m guessing most teams have guys do this, and really if your name is on a list as a previous season ticket holder and one of the players calls you odds are good you’ll re-up.

  5. jarathen - Mar 19, 2013 at 3:18 PM

I like how the sentiment about Harper has turned around since he broke into the bigs. He IS the kind of guy you want headlining the next wave of talent (alongside Trout).

  6. ptfu - Mar 19, 2013 at 3:23 PM

See what happens when you don’t pay players during spring training? They have to take side jobs to pay the bills!

Wonder what his sales pitch is? Does he offer to hit a home run for Mr. and Mrs. Lastname if they upgrade to the Super Duper Gold Plated Armandaleg Ticket Plan? Or does he say, Come hang out with me in left field all season?

    • JB (the original) - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:03 PM

      free jars of “BH” eye-black.

  7. westtribetobe - Mar 19, 2013 at 3:50 PM

I just called he’s not actually doing it haha

  8. natstowngreg - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:11 PM

Thinking of the level of service our Nats (half) season ticket group gets, wondering if Young Mr. Harper might be an upgrade.

    • baseballer28 - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:30 PM

So you went to your 1st Nats game in September, just like all the others…

  9. baseballer28 - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:11 PM

    What a douchebag…

  10. baseballer28 - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:28 PM

Trout only had 26 more AB’s and they played in the same amount of games, yet Trout had 38 MORE hits, scored 31 MORE runs, knocked in 24 MORE runs, had an avg. that was 56 points higher along with an OB% that was almost 6 full points higher. And he stole 30 MORE bases then Harper. I not even going to mention his defense. Trout is better and its not even by a little, the gap IS pretty big. Harper had an average season at best for a rookie. Go look at the raw baseball stats, not that sabermetics bullshit. And Trout doesn’t look like he’s going to a fucking KISS concert every night, he looks like a ballplayer.

    • paint771 - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:31 PM

You may have missed the point of this story.

    • warpd - Mar 19, 2013 at 7:19 PM

KISS concert? I take it the 28 is for the year you were born?

      • yahmule - Mar 20, 2013 at 9:29 AM

And he’s wearing his baseball cap backwards!?! What the hell?!?

    • voteforno6 - Mar 19, 2013 at 9:12 PM

Why do these idiots always have to bring up Trout every time there’s a story about Harper? Really, baseballer28, you need to get a life.

  11. baseballer28 - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:48 PM

What was the point of this story anyway? Its just another story about some showboat, flashly douche that isn’t nearly as good as everyone makes him out to be. I can’t stand stories like this one. I just pointing out facts, that’s all dude.

    • ptfu - Mar 19, 2013 at 4:55 PM

You don’t like stories about players doing unusual/funny things? This may be the wrong website for you.

    • aceshigh11 - Mar 19, 2013 at 5:29 PM

      Oh, shut the fuck up.

I can’t stand people who post 3-4 crazed comments in a row.

The fact that you got yourself so goddamned worked up and enraged over this harmless story that you felt compelled to just keep COMING BACK and posting more hateful vitriol shows that you’ve got some serious instability issues.

      • paperlions - Mar 20, 2013 at 7:37 AM

        Irony, thy name is aceshigh11

      • aceshigh11 - Mar 20, 2013 at 9:45 AM

When have I ever posted 3-4 times in a row, ranting about something absolutely trivial?

The only time I hammer people on HBT is when they say something unambiguously stupid.

      • paperlions - Mar 20, 2013 at 10:21 AM

The irony of you ranting about somebody getting upset about something unimportant and in your rant coming off as being upset about something completely unimportant didn’t strike you?

      • aceshigh11 - Mar 20, 2013 at 11:24 AM

Well, sure…there’s irony there, but I was REACTING to someone else’s idiocy.

I know I’ve had my moments on HBT, but typically I don’t run my mouth unless it’s in reaction to some else acting like a fool.

Maybe that’s a distinction without a difference, but I think there is.

      • paperlions - Mar 20, 2013 at 11:57 AM

I know. I wasn’t criticizing you….just thought the irony was funny….yeah, the guy was being a giant ass, I agree with that 100%.

  12. lyon810 - Mar 19, 2013 at 6:32 PM

    I miss the Expos

    • ThisIsBaseball - Mar 19, 2013 at 7:49 PM

      So does Montreal.

  13. schmedley69 - Mar 19, 2013 at 9:58 PM

Talk about an easy job. He probably only had like 3 calls.
