And I just used the facts to show that while it is the perception that our image is all kinds of tarnished, the facts are people still want to live here, regardless of what buffoon is in office.

And Carby, i’m far from a right winger, never liked the decision to go to war, thinks any two human beings should be able to wed, regardless of any reason, it’s none of my business ( though when you look at the divorce rate, makes you wonder why you would want to other than insurance), and am kind of into the Libertarian thing.

On that note, Carter got his hands into everything and royally screwed up half of everything he touched.

Sure, he lied to get us into a war that killed 5,000 Americans and a few hundred thousand civilians, but hey…dude…9/11!

I know people dying and hating gay people is super awesome and I don’t want to take that away from you, but remaining delusional so far after the fact would be laughable if it weren’t so harmful.

Believe in whatever political ideology you want, but don’t make excuses when someone from your side has done irrevocable harm to this and other nations at a terrible, terrible price.

Bush’s second term seems to see a steady rise in the immigration rates. “Kind of like we hate what you stand for, can we get in?”

Jimmy Carter’s greatest failure as President was marketing. Alas.

I’m only mildly aware of Carter’s term in office, but it was overshadowed by the Iran Hostage Crisis, if I recall. A crisis brought to a close within 20 minutes of Reagan winning the election. Highly suspicious, given that considerable evidence indicates that Reagan’s people saw to it the hostage crisis continued long enough to sink to Carter.

Ultimately though, Carter is viewed internationally as the face of Democratic Reform, free elections and international aid. His reputation internationally is unimpeachable. So much so that he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. All in all I can recall no lingering or lasting effects of Carter’s presidency. In effect, the only impression left is that, after being your president, he went on to conduct himself and represent your country in a manner that would make me damn proud to claim him as a citizen of my own land. I am stunned that anyone would view him as inept.

Bush the Lesser? The biggest gormless twit to hold office since the kid who didn’t know how to wipe properly took over our neighbourhood treehouse based on body alone 35 years ago. Little B hasn’t done much of anything for anyone but himself since leaving office. While in office he oversaw the ruination of your economy, the ruination of your international reputation, sheer ineptitude in the handling of natural disasters, left you with laws designed to invade your privacy & limit your access to legal counsel, and embroiled your nation in two armed conflicts.

I’m not sure who you Americans go to when they want their presidents evaluated by an outsider in the hopes for objectivity, but the comparisons between Carter and Bush do NOT come down in Bush’s favour AT ALL if you’re asking this foreigner.

And while Bush the lesser may have been something of a disappointment, and far from the fiscal conservative he was supposed to be, and generally incompetent, just from an indepenent citizen’s point of view, he never passed a memo authorizing, out loud and proud, military action on American citizens, essentially judge, jury, and executioner.

I mean that power is always there anyway, but no one in 237 years actually had the audacity to put it on paper. Only the empire that ruled these lands previous would do such a thing.
