I could see the Angels doing a one year for Lohse at best. Honestly, Hanson probably isn’t leaps and bounds above Jerome Williams/Garret Richards. The problem for the Angels if another starter gets injured, that’s all of their MLB-caliber depth gone.

I remember when Hanson was coming up with Kris Medlen in the Braves system; they were supposed to be a dominant 1-2 for a decade. Instead, Medlen blew out his elbow and Hanson became a great starter. Then about mid-way through last year, Hanson and Medlen switched places. Now Tommy Hanson is the injury-plagued one, and Kris Medlen is the one slaughtering hitters.

All they got rid of was Jordan Walden, who is currently injured and was unreliable at the best of times. I think for the Angels it was worth the risk, however, the fact that the Braves would give him up for so little should have raised a big concern for the Halos.

Technically, they traded for Hanson. I’ve seen his shoulder referred to as “shredded”. Scouts seem to think he is done.

Halos keep signing problems to big contracts. Is anybody buying that the same injury Puhols had last year, and still bothering him this spring ( to the point he gets a designated runner!) is suddenly going to heal.

It’s only the 2nd yr of a 10 yr deal…. Hanson had same problem last year as well. Does the front office need the fans help?
