Get used to stories like this because until Fred and Jeff are gone this is all you’re going to read about the Mets.. What I don’t get is Selig. He forces McCourt out of LA because he’s an admitted jerk, but the Wilpons who most belivve to be criminal are allowed to stay. What does Fred have on him? Did Bud have his fingers in the Madoff pie along with Fred and Jeff? Just askin’.

Bill, just want to say thanks for the use of wOBA….this feels like a historical moment in HBT posts that shouldn’t be ignored. Worth noting though that wOBA is NOT park adjusted, which is one reason you get so many Mariners/Padres/Marlins listed.

Gotta hand it to the Mariners, not only have they set the bar with a wOBA of .276, they also managed to keep it under .300 for three consecutive years from 2010-12. That Zduriencik hiring is certainly paying dividends.

I certainly don’t expect the outfield to be good by any stretch, but with properly utilized platoon splits, I wouldn’t expect historical awfulness. Assuming Terry Collins knows what that is.

Wright may miss time, Murphy may miss time, and Davis has been none too sturdy himself. So I guess what I am saying is, at least the infield won’t be showing up the outfield by comparison.

On the other hand, with a few lucky breaks (Wright’s health, David consistency, Duda gets his 30 knows that people were predicting last spring, Cowgill lives up to his prospect hype) the team could be respectable.That might mean a .500 record, but respectable nonetheless.
