    SIX TO MIDNIGHT BABY!!!

  2. hittfamily - Mar 31, 2013 at 5:52 PM

Carlos Pena hitting cleanup. Rays fans are glad to see it is on another team this year.

  3. knowlegeforyou - Mar 31, 2013 at 5:54 PM

It is good to see Berkman healthy. Hope he stays that way. I’m so tired of ST, I am ready for this season to start.

    • blabidibla - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:10 PM

Healthy being a relative term of course.

  4. chill1184 - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:05 PM

    Huzzah for baseball

  5. proudlycanadian - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:06 PM

    Houston! You have a problem!

    • southofheaven81 - Mar 31, 2013 at 7:31 PM

Just one? They’ll be so relieved.

      • proudlycanadian - Mar 31, 2013 at 7:57 PM

There may be worse teams in baseball this season.

    • jeffa43 - Apr 1, 2013 at 1:46 AM

we have no problem with 8-2 victories!

      • proudlycanadian - Apr 1, 2013 at 6:33 AM

Houston is now on top of the AL standings.

  6. natslady - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:09 PM

    Go, Bo!!!! (Porter)

  7. spudchukar - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:18 PM

All day long, nothing’ but smiles. Ain’t life grand?

  8. kiwicricket - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:20 PM

Honest question….why did they put a train in LF?
    Part of Houston’s history?

    • chill1184 - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:26 PM

To my understanding the train is a homage to Union station. Before being called Minute Maid it was known as The Ballpark at Union station

    • Gardenhire's Cat - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:27 PM

Minute Maid Park was once Houston’s Union Station. Union Station Lobby is now the main entrance to Minute Maid Park.

    • kiwicricket - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:49 PM

Thanks for that. ‘Ballpark at Union Station’ would be fantastic.
‘Minute Maid Park’ is slightly awful.
      (Trying not to mention ‘Enron’)

  9. Gardenhire's Cat - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:23 PM

For a minute there I was confused why they had a DH if they were playing at Minute Maid Park… Then I remembered – welcome to the Junior Circuit, Astros

    • historiophiliac - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:36 PM

      Boooo!!!!

      /throws peanut shells

  10. kiwicricket - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:25 PM

I think Moreland is going to have a good season. Will be batting higher in the order in a couple months.

Do the Astro’s have a better lineup than the Feesh? Both awful, but who’s is slightly less flaccid?

    • jerze2387 - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:35 PM

Altuve and chris carters potential alone are better than anything the feesh have (especially with stanton neutralized due to the fact he wont see a pitch to hit until he goes to Free Agency). Add in that justin Maxwell has been pretty decent, Dominguez, barnes, and Wallace can only get better, and id say Astros are in better shape.

      • kiwicricket - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:46 PM

I was thinking the same thing. The Stro’s are getting mocked for their lineup, but the Marlins will hit 2HR per WEEK in their park with that putrid lineup.

  11. klownboy - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:33 PM

Happy as hell that baseball is back! By the way, the Giants will repeat…

  13. southofheaven81 - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:40 PM

Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead AND baseball. Tonight is a wealth of TV riches :-D

    • kiwicricket - Mar 31, 2013 at 6:51 PM

Zombies, scantly clad wenches and Baseball. The 3 main food groups, really.

    • indaburg - Mar 31, 2013 at 8:36 PM

Agreed. I hope the Astros win tonight. I have a tender spot in my heart for cripples, bastards, and broken things.

      • historiophiliac - Mar 31, 2013 at 8:58 PM

        stray dogs

      • indaburg - Mar 31, 2013 at 10:11 PM

Yes, those too– they’re usually broken.

  14. ch0psuey - Mar 31, 2013 at 7:05 PM

I like Minute Maid Park, don’t get to see it too often however. The glass window in left field kind of reminds me of the one at the new Marlins stadium.

  15. stairwayto7 - Mar 31, 2013 at 7:07 PM

    Astros win 5-4

  16. zidanevalor - Mar 31, 2013 at 7:52 PM

It’s really just hitting me now that the MLB Season Opener is an Astros home game.

Why couldn’t it be the defending champion Giants hosting the Dodgers, Nationals, or Tigers?

    • natslady - Mar 31, 2013 at 8:09 PM

Because who is watching the Stros after this game? Let ‘em have their moment.

    • historiophiliac - Mar 31, 2013 at 9:02 PM

I am a Tigers fan and I’m thrilled this is the first game. Welcome to the AL, Houston! (oh, god, that hurt a little)

  17. chill1184 - Mar 31, 2013 at 7:57 PM

I really like the Astro’s new uniforms

  18. antlerclaws - Mar 31, 2013 at 8:04 PM

4:30 AM here in Afghanistan, and I’m stoked! Go Rangers!

    • ch0psuey - Mar 31, 2013 at 8:35 PM

If you are serving our Country and watching the game then enjoy and thank you!

      • antlerclaws - Mar 31, 2013 at 10:55 PM

They are carrying a bunch of games on Armed Forces Network tomorrow, so I will be enjoying, and thank you.

  19. yahmule - Mar 31, 2013 at 8:23 PM

Nice that it took Blue all of half an inning to kick one.

  20. bouwel92 - Mar 31, 2013 at 9:02 PM

Baseball is back and my team is on primetime. Beer and baseball, couldnt get any better. Lets go Astros!

  21. jeffa43 - Apr 1, 2013 at 1:53 AM

Astros are in first! Suck it critics!
