Released by the Astros last week, Tyler Greene has agreed to a minor-league deal with the White Sox.

Greene was a first-round pick in 2005, but he’s hit just .224 with a .647 OPS in 266 games through age 29. He does have a little pop and good speed, so he could carve out a decent career as a utility man.

For now he’ll head to Triple-A, where he last hit .323 with 14 homers and a 1.001 OPS in 66 games for the Cardinals’ affiliate in 2011.

If Craig had written this post, there would have been a “for some reason” at the end of the title. With good reason.

Yep, I still mentally add “for some reason” to at least 80% of the headlines that don’t already have it.
