Eduardo Nunez leaves game after being hit by pitch

Eduardo Nunez, who’s filling in for the injured Derek Jeter as the Yankees’ shortstop, just left today’s game after being hit on the right shoulder/chest by a Doug Fister pitch.

Nunez was on the ground in what appeared to be tremendous pain for several minutes before being helped off the field. Jayson Nix replaced him, but with Jeter unlikely to return this month the Yankees may be in search of middle infield help.

UPDATE: X-rays were negative and the initial diagnosis is a bruised right bicep.

You beat me to the Wayne Tolleson reference. Damn you! Damn you straight to hell!

Sigh, the way this team is going, he’s going to be found dead in the clubhouse.

I would be suprised if he did not have a few broken ribs after that. As much as I want to hate him Youkilis has been the best hitter on this team so far. And just for proof as i am writing this he hits a two run home run. I guess I am going to have to root for the laundry not the person. Lol

I had to do that with Jim Edmonds when he came to Chicago. It gets easier after a while.

And also to Bucky Dent, Rafael Santana, and the ghost of Phil Rizzuto.

Hey who cares this guy is a bum who will commit 99 errors if he actually continues to play. Get Nix on the field and lets hope this prick broke something

      Geez…overreact much?

      • deathmonkey41 - Apr 5, 2013 at 4:23 PM

Cut him some slack- for all you know, someone could have forgotten the honey mustard on his Grilled Chicken Wrap at lunch today even though he specifically asked for it. By the time you get home and see it, you really don’t feel like going back, so you begrudingly eat it even though the thought of how much better it would be with honey mustard just makes the rage grow. Lunch mishaps can be hell on a man.

    Clearly, Fister is no Dickslayer.

I’m not saying that shortstops are oh-so-easy to find, but a guy as skilled a Nunez seems replaceable to me. The YES broadcasters were gushing about him last night, but I don’t see it.

Ouch! I assume that every team wants to ply the Yankees this month.

    • proudlycanadian - Apr 5, 2013 at 4:47 PM

      The typo was unintentional.

      • rbj1 - Apr 5, 2013 at 5:09 PM

Hey, the Yankees are as fragile as tissue these days.

  11. password1 - Apr 5, 2013 at 5:43 PM

at this rate, they’ll be sticking a mannequin out at short, and calling up Andy Stankiewicz to see if he’s available. they suckkkkk! lol

couldn’t make me happier. 90 losses? probably.

laid on the ground for several minutes in excruciating pain? for a bicep bruise? apparently it hit other places too, that just doesn’t sound right.
