Jered Weaver questionable for his next start

Apr 8, 2013, 9:15 AM EDT

Jered Weaver left last night’s game with an elbow injury on his non-pitching arm. Bob Nightengale reports this morning that his next start is questionable:

Given that it’s his non-pitching arm that shouldn’t be as big a concern as his low velocity last night. As Matthew noted, He was sitting mostly at 85-86 mph with his fastball and he walked four dudes.

His velocity has been trending downward for a while. He has adapted reasonably well to that, but he needs his control to be very good if he’s gong to try to Maddux the rest of his career.

I figure the Angels can go Richards and Williams in a kind of tandem start if need be. They’re not Jered Weaver, but they’re not dog food, either.
