Apr 9, 2013, 11:00 AM EDT

Detroit Tigers' Martinez runs bases after hitting a solo home run against the Texas Rangers in Game 3 in their MLB American League Championship Series baseball playoffs in Detroit

The Tigers may be Martinez-less for a day or two:

The culprit:

If I’m Martinez, my response is “yeah, well, you should see the bat rack.”

Sounds like an open and shut case of assault and bat(rack)ery…

  2. ditto65 - Apr 9, 2013 at 11:20 AM

Why do they sharpen their bat racks?

    • cur68 - Apr 9, 2013 at 11:36 AM

Seriously. What’s that thing made of, old sardine cans?

    • historiophiliac - Apr 9, 2013 at 11:46 AM

Sounds like something Chipper Jones put together in his garage.

Considering the use of Phil Coke as a closer, that bat rack may be the sharpest thing in the Tiger’s dugout.

      Booo!!!!!

      /throws popcorn

Martinez hasn’t been hitting well so far this season anyways.

      • historiophiliac - Apr 9, 2013 at 12:34 PM

He’s just gotta get his groove back, PC.

      • proudlycanadian - Apr 9, 2013 at 12:39 PM

Both Cabrerra and Martinez can wait a few days before they get their groove back.

      • historiophiliac - Apr 9, 2013 at 12:40 PM

You hope? Well, you won’t have to worry about V-Mart today. But, you might want to worry about Fielder and that dreamboat Torii Hunter.

      • proudlycanadian - Apr 9, 2013 at 12:46 PM

They can all go out and relax for a few days. I did take Cabrerra instead of Trout with the first pick in my fantasy league; however, it would be OK with me if he continued his power outage for a few more games.

      • historiophiliac - Apr 9, 2013 at 12:49 PM

You should not have admitted that publicly, PC. The Trout fanboys will jump you for that.

      • philliesblow - Apr 9, 2013 at 1:23 PM

Historio – Do you think Stella could help VMart with that groove issue?

      • historiophiliac - Apr 9, 2013 at 1:27 PM

Well, Don Kelly sure as hell ain’t gonna do it.

  4. alang3131982 - Apr 9, 2013 at 12:22 PM

Anything to get Don Kelly into the line-up, eh?

    • historiophiliac - Apr 9, 2013 at 12:32 PM

Brandon Inge must’ve passed those compromising photos of Leyland with DD’s cat to Kelly. There is no other explanation.

Buehrle goes tomorrow, tigers are hitting .292 with 9HR’s lifetime against him, should be a interesting game. Cant wait….

I feel a little dirty having you on our side, harry…
