Cubs-Brewers rained out, setting up a homecoming for Kyle Lohse

The Cubs and Brewers game scheduled for today has been postponed. Either due to general lack of interest or because the weather in Chicago is horrifying. Could be either one, really.

That’s not too important, though, as it will no doubt be made up in a sparsely-attended double header at some point. What is important, though, is that this bumps the Brewers’ scheduled starter — Kyle Lohse — to Friday. And on Friday the Brewers play the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Happy homecoming for the guy the Cardinals didn’t want even after Chris Carpenter went down for the year.  It’ll be interesting to see how he’s received by The Best Fans in Baseball.

I am confident that he will greeted with cheers.

or rather “will be greeted” (edit)

    • fearlessleader - Apr 12, 2013 at 9:09 PM

Yep. Standing ovation and extended applause for Lohse, who stepped out of the box to tip his cap.

Actually the Cardinals made a $13.3 million qualifying offer to Lohse last November. Kyle was the one who turned it down.

And the Cardinals knew there was a 100% chance he would turn the qualifying offer down

Earned runs given up by Cardinal starters this year: 3,1,4,0,2,2,3,1,0

Their starters have an ERA of 2.56 so far, and everyone is looking healthy and pitching fairly well….and that is with both Rosenthal and Kelly sent to the bullpen. It isn’t that the Cardinals didn’t want him, it is that even without Carpenter, they simply don’t need another starting pitcher. Not sure why it is so hard for people to understand such a simple fact.

Oh, and Lohse will very likely get a bit of a standing ovation…..just like he would from nearly every other fan base (excepting those that don’t have enough fans show up for an ovation to manifest).

Got no real comment on Lohse, or Craig’s poor attempt at trolling, but then I saw the picture and….

Can the Brewers pleasepleaseplease bring back those Harvey’s Wallbangers pinstrips and the ball-in-mitt logo permanently?

  6. cardsfan773 - Apr 10, 2013 at 5:32 PM

Wow Craig, is your life that empty that you continue to poke Cardinals fans. I feel sorry for ya.

    • jwbiii - Apr 10, 2013 at 9:34 PM

Thinnest skinned, whiniest fanbase: Cards or Phils?

  7. cardsfan773 - Apr 10, 2013 at 5:35 PM

So Lohse will get a standing O on Friday, but all PHT will do is make condescending comments about “best fans in baseball”.

    • bla bla bla - Apr 10, 2013 at 8:01 PM

Wait… are you saying that the egotistical, overbearing blowhards in and around St. Louis aren’t the best fans in baseball? Who’dathunk it?

  8. fearlessleader - Apr 10, 2013 at 8:08 PM

Puzzling post. Lohse was popular and successful during his time as a Cardinal; there were no hard feelings when he left to free agency; everyone understood why both sides made the decisions they did; and nobody made any inflammatory public remarks in either direction.

The fans will welcome him back with cheers, and then hope he loses.

bla bla bla. People who live in glass whorehouses shouldnt throw stones

  10. cardsfan773 - Apr 10, 2013 at 10:04 PM

Oh no. How will we ever get along here in STL without the support of the hardball talk trolls. Guess we will have to cry ourselves to sleep. On a more important note, we just had 2 tornados in hazelwood amd florissant. Hope everyone is OK

    • bla bla bla - Apr 11, 2013 at 1:27 AM

Well you’re clearly good at crying, so that should work out well for you.

Hopefully none were injured due to the tornadoes.

  11. stlmetsfan5 - Apr 11, 2013 at 8:11 AM

Let’s make this clear right now: Cardinals fans are not the “best fans in baseball.” Not even close.

  12. cardsfan773 - Apr 11, 2013 at 9:13 AM

    Sing along with me.
Damn its fun to piss off Trolls
