Tragedy in Boston

Apr 15, 2013, 4:30 PM EDT

Awful news out of Boston. Obviously there is no sense in thinking about trivial baseball matters for the time being.

Please go to for the latest updates on this tragedy. For a more local angle, check out or

Also, as we’ve unfortunately learned over the past several years, misinformation often reigns at times like these. Please, do your best in the coming hours to refrain from passing along misinformation or being taken in by bogus charities and the like. And please be civil and respectful of others when discussing this awful news. People have died and lives have been ruined this afternoon.

Extremely not funny. …and stop embarrassing all the rest of us Seminoles fans by associating yourself with our favorite college football team.

from this Yankee fan, today I am a Bostonian.

  6. randygnyc - Apr 15, 2013 at 9:21 PM

Very sad. Much love to my fellow Americans in Boston and those well meaning foreign nationals visiting for the marathon. This is undoubtedly a terrorist attack. NBC confirms that a 20 year old Saudi national is under guard at the women’s hospital. This isn’t the first act of terrorism from a Saudi. The hijackers were almost entirely Saudi Muslim jihadists. And this comes at a terrible time for the illegal aliens seeking amnesty from our worthless senators. Finally a reasonable backlash.

    • klingonj - Apr 15, 2013 at 9:27 PM

glad you have it all figuredout Clousseau. any chance you might exercise some restraint and wait for the pros to do their job before you get your tin foil hat tightened?

      • explodet - Apr 15, 2013 at 11:31 PM

But the pros are all lizard people and/or part of the Zionist conspiracy. Don’t you know anything?

    • carbydrash - Apr 16, 2013 at 11:15 AM

Hey, do you know who Richard Jewell is?

If not, please go look him up on Wikipedia.

Done? Great! That was informative, wasn’t it? Now, have we learned a valuable lesson about accusing people of terrorist acts based on extremely early information?

      • barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 5:29 PM

Ate you that sensitive? That was a play on the name richard dick…

    • barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 8:52 PM

If you make sense with the libtards here you get blasted..take from.where it comes

      • carbydrash - Apr 16, 2013 at 10:51 PM

What sense have you made at any point? At all?

Please, read back over everything you’ve written and justify your statement.

Tuberippin- a retired secret service agent suggested it has more to do with an easily accessible, soft target, with world class athletes, competing in a televised event with millions of viewers rather than patriots day.

    • hittfamily - Apr 15, 2013 at 9:34 PM

Can you also ask him where the best hookers are in Columbia? My retired grandpa has a lot of opinions too, but I prefer to listen to experts who are still well informed.

    • tuberippin - Apr 15, 2013 at 10:11 PM

Both are potential, but I was simply stating that if in fact the attacks are linked to a specific date, it likely would have been Patriot’s Day, given that the term “patriot” is associated with New England and the United States more generally.

  8. chill1184 - Apr 15, 2013 at 10:07 PM

Such a horrible tragedy today and these pictures were pretty Fing grim to look at. Ill reserve my normal cynical outlook on what various political ideologies will put the blame until we actually hear some actual evidence.

  9. tfbuckfutter - Apr 15, 2013 at 11:23 PM

    Wise words via Patton Oswalt:

    “Boston. F*cking horrible.

I remember, when 9/11 went down, my reaction was, “Well, I’ve had it with humanity.”

But I was wrong. I don’t know what’s going to be revealed to be behind all of this mayhem. One human insect or a poisonous mass of broken sociopaths.

But here’s what I DO know. If it’s one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. (Thanks FAKE Gallery founder and owner Paul Kozlowski for pointing this out to me). This is a giant planet and we’re lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they’re pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We’d have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, “The good outnumber you, and we always will.”

(A downvote for Patton’s words is an upvote for you being an idiot…..just know that in advance so I don’t have to followup in the middle of the goddamn night)

    • Marty - Apr 16, 2013 at 1:09 PM

“You’re either with us or against us”, eh Dubya jr?

  10. Old Gator - Apr 16, 2013 at 10:49 AM

Day two. Whatever leads the FBI, police or CIA might have, no one has come forward to claim responsibility for this atrocity. I can’t help but think that organized Islamists would have fallen all over themselves to take credit by now (though they probably will eventually – it looks like this one took them by as much surprise as the rest of us). Meanwhile Barry the imbecile’s prayers for continued persecution of Muslims, the opportunity towag his jingo bells in our ears and the perpetuation of the Muslim “war” against America haven’t yielded much fruit. Right now, this looks and smells more and more like a home grown copy of the Atlanta World’s Fair bombing.

    • carbydrash - Apr 16, 2013 at 11:18 AM

Even if the result is an Islamic terrorist, those who condone a war on all Muslim’s over it would do well to remember that the death toll pales in comparison to what recent massacres committed by white, suburban youth in the past year. The Islamic community as a whole would be no more responsible than this than white men as a whole are responsible for Newtown.

      • barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 2:27 PM

so its ok? what planet are you on? Did you see how many people lost limbs? And if this was a terrorist attack from say Al Qaeda do you think that matters? I love the playing down of a horrific terrorist attack..what is wrong with you?

      • Old Gator - Apr 16, 2013 at 3:08 PM

So what’s OK? There’s nothing in carbydrash’s comments to excuse it. Nothing at all. That inference is purely in your own atrophied mind.

You can’t even seem to read what people write and you don’t even react to what’s written there. You’re just reading your own diseased ideologically predisposed and bigoted sound bites off the inside of your own thick skull. Listen, you’ve demonstrated repeatedly that you aren’t nearly bright enough to interpret the obvious, much less discern the subtleties in the arguments of rational people. That, and if you’re so ideologically constipated that if it were a physical issue, you’d need immediate surgical intervention to keep from blowing apart like some dimwitted simulacrum of Mr. Creosote.

      • carbydrash - Apr 16, 2013 at 3:47 PM

so its ok? what planet are you on? Did you see how many people lost limbs? And if this was a terrorist attack from say Al Qaeda do you think that matters? I love the playing down of a horrific terrorist attack..what is wrong with you?

Did I got drunk and write another comment somewhere that you are responding to? Because this is an incredible thing to infere from the comment I made.

To dumb my comment down a lot: A lot of awful people do awful shit. When white men do awful shit, we don’t blame all white men. So, when a Muslim does something awful, we probably shouldn’t blame all Muslims.

        Got it?

      • tfbuckfutter - Apr 16, 2013 at 4:05 PM

        darby, I disagree.

I think when a Muslim is involved in a terror attack it is completely fair to assume all Muslims are terrorists.

And considering it seems the majority of child molestation occurs by white men, I think it is perfectly reasonable to people to assume I am a child molester every time a case hits the news…..

I am not, for the record….but people should assume I am. It’s the only way to keep people safe. By assuming things about a group based on the actions of the minority in that group.

Also, feel free to assume I can’t dance for shit….(I can’t).

    • barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 11:24 AM

also if you remember the would be bomber in NYC Times Square was a huge Braves fan from Pakistan

      • Old Gator - Apr 16, 2013 at 3:09 PM

        Which proves what, moron?

    • Marty - Apr 16, 2013 at 1:10 PM

      Fight speculation with speculation. Attaboy.

      • Old Gator - Apr 16, 2013 at 1:35 PM

Barry’s got a point (probably attributable to hydrocephaly): because of that idiot, all Braves fans must be terrorists. I do hope the FBI is converging on Atlanta right now, leaving no brick unturned. And who knows? It might distract the Braves just enough to give the Gnats a chance to climb back into it.

      • Marty - Apr 16, 2013 at 1:46 PM

        Pressure cookers = North Korea.

        This is obvious now.

      • barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 2:25 PM

Marty the person that was arrested for the attempted bombing in NYC@ Times Square was a Pakastani..that’s not speculation that is a fact..

      • barrywhererufrom - Apr 21, 2013 at 6:57 AM

i see once again you guys were right on with your Pc crap..another arrrest..a Irish Catholic was arrested for ties to a terrorist one would say all Muslims are terrorists. Their could be nothing further the truth. But sadly you fools refuse to see that the majority if terrorists are radical Muslims.

  11. barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 11:13 AM

you mean Atlanta the case of Richard Reed getting framed for something he didn’t do. i will agree let this play out and see who is responsible..

    • carbydrash - Apr 16, 2013 at 11:20 AM

Richard *Jewell*. Richard Reed was the shoe-bomber.

      • tfbuckfutter - Apr 16, 2013 at 11:54 AM

Good old Richard Reid. The reason everyone in our reactionary country now has to take off our shoes at the airport.

I, personally, can’t wait for an attempt from the Butt Bomber.

That’ll make security in the aftermath a lot more invasive.

      • barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 2:26 PM

        Same Dick different day..

      • carbydrash - Apr 16, 2013 at 3:49 PM

Did you just call Richard Jewell a dick?

Because, remember, he was *wrongly* accused. In fact, he saved people’s lives by noticing the bomb before it went off and getting people out of the way.

    • Old Gator - Apr 16, 2013 at 1:32 PM

Boor Barry can’t seem to make a comment without getting his head stuck in his ass, can he?

  12. barrywhererufrom - Apr 16, 2013 at 2:04 PM

Boor Barry..Dude if that is the best you got Old Gator then that is pretty sad!!

    • Old Gator - Apr 16, 2013 at 3:03 PM

Careful – you’re gonna sprain your nose trying to hit all those thumbs up on your own posts.

      • barrywhererufrom - Apr 21, 2013 at 6:51 AM

I see another Irish Catholic nun was arrested for terrorist the same thing happened with the radicals in Boston. You are the biggest fool because you spew and buy into the president’s and the lefts bullshit that radical Muslims are not a threat. Remember watch those Irish cathlolic nuns or those tea partiers they are the real radicals and the real threat to America. Wake up you fool

  13. barrywhererufrom - Apr 17, 2013 at 10:04 AM

Old Arse..your logic amazes me..maybe you missed the last episode of CSI. Now I will say this again. Maybe the FBI stated that they do not have anyone else in custody because they want to see who the suspect meets up with. It happens all the time. You know this turd may of not acted alone and let’s see if he can give up his friends locations. I know your liberal friends can’t deal with the fact that JIHADISTS are attacking Muslims and non-Muslims alike. But if it makes you feel better to say that Christians are killing as many people as RADICAL Muslims then so be it. Its wrong and off base but it must make you feel better when you all get together and say the same bullshit. When you have no idea who and why someone is trying to kill you..then you make us all unsafe..

  14. jimeejohnson - Apr 20, 2013 at 12:48 PM

Thanks to today’s stupid Conservative right wing NUTS, an AFRICAN AMERICAN was ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES twice in a row. You have to be the most pathetic, lame, party of LOSERS to enable a black man to win the Presidency, finally. Thanks, again, party of stupid.

  15. barrywhererufrom - Apr 21, 2013 at 7:03 AM

Gator I know I was wrong and a palin supporter did it

  16. barrywhererufrom - Apr 21, 2013 at 8:18 AM

I know old gator radical islamists had nothing to do with it..maybe you can classify the attack like the BO adminsrration did the fort hood shooting as a workplace violence incident..
