John Lannan pitched through knee soreness yesterday while giving up six runs in 1.2 innings against the Reds and today the Phillies placed him on the disabled list.

Lannan pitched pretty well in his first two starts of the season, but allowed nine baserunners while recording just five outs yesterday and heads to the DL with a 6.14 ERA.

Lannan was banished to Triple-A by the Nationals for most of last season and joined the Phillies on a one-year, $2.5 million deal that includes further incentives for innings and starts. No word yet on who’ll replace him, but right-hander Tyler Cloyd would seemingly be the most obvious in-house option despite some early struggles at Triple-A.

I don’t wish an injury on anyone. So, I really hope he fully recovers and gets traded so he can suck for someone else.

Maybe the Phillies can dig deep in their arsenal of minor league talent and find an average pitcher who hasn’t ruined one of Chase Utley’s seasons for $2 Million less.

I fully agree, don’t understand all the thumbs down, unless they just don’t want him to recover.

Drunk, you are a fucking idiot.

Can’t just go from thinking a guy is a garbage pitcher and disliking him for breaking Utley’s hand to magically loving the guy because he’s got a Phillies’ jersey on.

There are hundreds of guy of his talent level that Ruben could have signed.

No really, we root for the same team, and I totally disagree with you because he had been a bright spot so far in his other starts. And with Doc on the shelf, it’s a blow.

        You’re being an assclown, drunk.

Maybe the issue isn’t “magically loving the guy because he’s got a Phillies’ jersey on,” but rather having an unhealthy dislike for players just because they have a different jersey on.

You can trade for AAAA pitchers without even giving up talent. Hell the dodgers have plenty and Lannan may have gotten off to a hot start but he is still JOHN LANNON. Trade for Miguel Bautista or something. Lannan is no better than Rodrigo Lopez, JoJo Reyes or Derek Lowe
