Mark Teixeira targeting May 1 return seems very optimistic

Mark Teixeira was initially given an 8-10 week recovery timetable after injuring his wrist on March 25, but the Yankees first baseman has repeatedly said that he believes he can be back by May 1.

Don’t count on it. George King of the New York Post reports that Teixeira has not even progressed to taking swings off a tee yet, let alone being cleared to take batting practice or begin a minor-league rehab assignment.

There’s no harm in a player being optimistic about his recovery from an injury, of course, but as usual baseball players don’t make particularly good doctors.

At one time, it was thought that Jeter, Granderson and Teixeira would all return around May Day. I hope there is no news about a setback for Granderson.

Who needs Tex when the Yankees have Lyle Overbay. A little humor never hurt anyone. Besides actually Overbay has been pretty good.

Miracles happen when older players put on the pinstripes. Either that, or they sell their soul to the Devil.

“… sell their soul to the Devil.”

Nope, .. the Dark Side. Come on over, we have beer!

And, Wells has been freakin awesome!! I wasn’t real happy about bringing him on board by so far he looks better than ANYBODY expected.

You really should worry about your pathetic 8-12 bluejays and stop worryinig about the team that owned you this past weekend. Too bad nobody is coming off the DL for the jays that actually matters and would be able to help your team. Enjoy last place…

worry about your teams defense and starting pitching, it sucks!!

Actually, Tex injured his wrist on March 5th, making a May 1st return a little more realistic, if still a bit overly optimistic. I think most reports seem to suggest a return the back half of May.
