The NL logos in weird fonts

Apr 26, 2013, 10:29 AM EDT

Pretty much what it sounds like. Over at Bless You Boys Phil Coke’s Brain slapped random fonts on NL logoshe did the AL a while back — and opined. Stuff like this:

Cincinnati Reds – Wide Latin

Like most people from Ohio this font is fatter than it is tall.

Ouch. True, but ouch.

Not gonna lie: I think the Padres and Giants actually look pretty good. The rest: yikes.

These are hard to look at. Just looked at the AL ones, too. Detroit goes from one of the best logos in sports to basically the worst of all time.

I liked the Marlins one…was kinda surprised it wasn’t wingdings.

      From that blog’s comment section:

“It should be noted mthat ‘MARLINS’ written in Wingdings features images of a bomb, a skull and crossbones, a sadface, and a teardrop. Seems appropriate.”

It is amazing what you can do with font’s

And apparently HBT does not let you add custom fonts in the html tag :)

Ohio isn’t even in the top 10 of states with the highest rate of obesity.

Never let the truth ruin a joke…or a conversation with your significant other

Don’t worry, I’m still a total fanboy of you

If Michigan wasn’t 10th, the Midwest wouldn’t have ANY states in the top 10 most obese. But the south already gets picked on for so much that we have to take the hit.

That Giants font is actually pretty close to the Cleveland Indians’ wordmark back in the 1970s. Which is all you really need to know about 1970s uniform design.

Also, the posts there are a fun example of how to misuse fonts. Some of those fonts (like Papyrus) are effective when used for the right things.

Except Comic Sans. Never ever use Comic Sans.
