Jane Lee of MLB.com reports that the A’s have activated outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the 15-day disabled list and designated outfielder Casper Wells for assignment to clear a spot on the roster.

Wells, owner of a respectable 108 career OPS+, has now been designated for assignment three times this month. He began the year with Seattle, then moved to the Blue Jays and eventually the A’s. It shouldn’t take long for him to land with his fourth team of 2013.

Cespedes missed exactly 15 days with a strained muscle in his left hand. He had three home runs and seven RBI in 11 games before suffering the injury and is batting cleanup in his return to action Sunday afternoon against the Orioles.

Poor Casper. I’d like him to land with the Reds, who really need some RH batting help off the bench, but they don’t have an obvious spot on the 40 man.

Perfect platoon partner for Matt Joyce. Sam Fuld is fun to watch, but isn’t a very good baseball player. Both Luke Scott and Matt Joyce suck against lefties. Make it happen Andy.

Last week would still be too late to replace Francisco in New York (with the gentle bat). Do it immediately. Wells is a NY state product and would easily hit more than .080 !!! That would be a good landing spot for him and a huge improvement in the Yankee lineup.
