Phillies reinstate Carlos Ruiz from suspension

Apr 28, 2013, 10:28 AM EDT

Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com had news of the transaction first:

Ruiz is done serving his 25-game amphetamine suspension and ready to serve as the Phillies’ starting catcher after playing in just four minor league tune-up games. Erik Kratz will be his backup.

Ruiz, 34, batted .325/.394/.540 with 16 home runs and 68 RBI in 114 games last season and is regarded as one of the best defensive catchers in the majors. The Phillies opened the year 11-14 without him.

Does that mean Phillies games put their own players to sleep?

Kratz has been better than expected, but Chooch puts the pitchers in much more of a comfort zone.

Kratz is horrible both at hitting and behind the plate. Joseph should have been the guy to see what he has. The phillies are notorious at not playing young players. I am tired of all these big time young players making waves while the phillies just fatten these guys up to trade them. Stop holding down players and take a shot or we are going to run into a wall in the very near future. And for the sake of the fake baby Jesus can we please trade Dom brown. You kept brown but traded Worley ??? Makes perfect sense. But hey we got a center fielder who can neither play center or hit. Great. Hey why sign borne who we know can play when we can give up a good young pitcher and get a guy who can’t play. But hey we got 80 million worth of starting pitching when we play in perhaps the premier hitters park in baseball. Very smart rubin.

Sorry but rubin took a pretty good franchise gutted it and changed the way they do things to the exact opposite of the way they did when they won …. Drrrr

But hey at least we got a cheater back in the line up now
