John Farrell has a higher approval rating than George Washington, Mother Theresa, Gandhi and Santa Claus

May 3, 2013, 5:02 PM EDT

Not sure why anyone wants to do public opinion polling about baseball managers, but this is fun all the same:

Fackin’ Gandhi. Fackin’ Washington. Fackin’ Ma Theresa and Santa. Don’t ask me why I wicked hate those guys. They know what they fackin’ did.

  1. mustbechris - May 3, 2013 at 5:07 PM

I don’t trust it, the poll clearly has liberal bias. Thanks, Obama.

    • polonelmeagrejr - May 4, 2013 at 7:51 AM

THe Right WIng has succeeded in rendering sarcasm a thing of the past. Truth is, many of the thing you see posted are even crazier than your presumably sarcastic post. Kommie in the WHite House!!! Kenyan!!! Mooslem!!! birfr sertificate LOng form with baby’s signature!!!!!!

      • mustbechris - May 4, 2013 at 9:45 AM

        Your presumption is correct.

  2. therealtrenches - May 3, 2013 at 5:08 PM

    Mass-holes…when WILL they learn.

Craig, these cheeky columns of yours are getting tiresome.

And now that I’ve lodged some mild displeasure with something you’ve posted, go get out your password file so that you can log in as all those other screen names who post freakishly impassioned defenses of you.

    • Jeremy T - May 3, 2013 at 5:12 PM

Wait, Craig has my password! This cannot stand!

I know I’m just fulfilling your silly prediction, but I really don’t see the harm in posts like this. It’s not like he’s neglecting other more important stories, and if you’re looking for a more tone there are plenty of other places you could find it…

      • therealtrenches - May 3, 2013 at 5:21 PM

Didn’t I just describe my own displeasure with stuff like this as “mild,”?

Seriously, though, you’re right: It’s a silly prediction. I haven’t given a thought to whether my hypothesis that the Craig-ettes are really just Craig defending himself under different screen names is actually true. While a distinct possibility, it’s all in good fun.

I wouldn’t bother with these shenanigans if I didn’t recognize Craig as a true baseball fan and the writer I enjoy most on HBT.

      • Jeremy T - May 6, 2013 at 1:21 PM

nobody’s likely to see this correction, but I just realized I forgot a word there. That should’ve read “looking for a more serious tone”

    • dondada10 - May 3, 2013 at 5:18 PM

Craig here. I had Dondada’s password. It’s Cunnilingus.

    • polonelmeagrejr - May 4, 2013 at 7:55 AM

Geez, realtrenches. It sounds like you think Craig is part of the Liberal Media. Here’s a quiz for you. WHy does the myth of the LIberal media have such longevity?
A.) Two main factors 1.) the paranoia which affflicts many on the RIght 9( you included, apparently.) 2.) AMong the more mentallly agile RIght wingers it’s a form of gamesmanship – similar to the way Phil Jackson used to work the referee team before a big series. the thinking being , “Maybe it willl get me a call somewhere down the road and what the heck! it doesn’t cost a cent.

  3. dondada10 - May 3, 2013 at 5:14 PM

    Take it somewhere else, bud.

    • proudlycanadian - May 3, 2013 at 5:43 PM

Thankfully, that stupid post was edited out. I agree with your comment.

    • mustbechris - May 3, 2013 at 5:46 PM

      Somewhere else, like ProHockeyTalk?

      • sabatimus - May 4, 2013 at 10:50 AM

Only if they’re talking about Shanahan screwing up yet another suspension.

      • mustbechris - May 4, 2013 at 1:10 PM

But he screws them up so often…

  4. Caught Looking - May 3, 2013 at 5:15 PM

How you reconcile a 1% disapproval rating with a +/- 3% margin of error?

    • tfbuckfutter - May 3, 2013 at 5:39 PM

      Optimistically.

      102% bitches!!

      • jwbiii - May 4, 2013 at 2:41 AM

Well, it’s two better, isn’t it? It’s not 100. You see, most blokes, you know, will be polling at 100. You’re on 100 here, all the way up, all the way up, all the way up, you’re on 100 on your polling numbers. Where can you go from there? Where? Put it up to 102.

      • dan1111 - May 4, 2013 at 4:03 AM

Derek Jeter has a 110% approval rating.

  5. tfbuckfutter - May 3, 2013 at 5:38 PM

Yeah but Mahky Mahk is pollin at a hundo even tho dat movie with da Rock looks wicked queeah.

Also….where’s that guy who complained about not enough Red Sox appreciation posts?

  6. indaburg - May 3, 2013 at 5:41 PM

I love me some baseball, but seriously, y’all in Mass might have your priorities just a touch messed up. Just sayin’.

  7. sdelmonte - May 3, 2013 at 6:03 PM

    Well, Santa brings lousy gifts.

And some people agree with revisionist histories of famous people.

    • dondada10 - May 3, 2013 at 6:18 PM

Everybody knows Mother Theresa was a compiler.

      • sabatimus - May 4, 2013 at 10:53 AM

There’s factual evidence to indicate Mother Teresa encouraged suffering in her “houses of the sick” or whatever they’re called; and that by being around so much suffering and not helping her charges, she believed she was ensured a place closer to God when she died. In other words, she was not the saint that people made her.

    • jwbiii - May 3, 2013 at 7:25 PM

Santa Claus is morbidly obese. A horrible role model for the children of a nation with a child obesity epidemic.

  8. indaburg - May 3, 2013 at 6:05 PM

In all seriousness, the citizens of Massachusetts are just well versed in the dark sides of our historical icons. George Wahington, slave owner. Ghandi, pedophilia (it’s true–I was crushed when I learned this). Mother Teresa, fame monger. Santa Claus, um, breaking and entering.

    • tfbuckfutter - May 3, 2013 at 6:06 PM

Santa is polling at 12% in Philly.

And, I don’t even know how this happened….but Mother Teresa is polling at whore%. That’s not even a number but….you know….whatever.

      • indaburg - May 3, 2013 at 6:37 PM

I laughed at Mother Teresa at whore %. I am so going to hell.

      • niceguyeddie11 - May 3, 2013 at 6:41 PM

You should write for SNL…Seriously, send them that comment as an example of how clever you are.

      • tfbuckfutter - May 3, 2013 at 6:58 PM

I don’t know if that SNL comment was sarcastic or not, but it was hurtful either way.

      • indaburg - May 3, 2013 at 7:01 PM

Have you watched SNL in the past decade? That comment was funnier.

  9. kiwicricket - May 3, 2013 at 6:56 PM

The rumored PED use by Ghandi and Mother Theresa continue to swirl…
Santa’s Byzantine labor laws in the North and treatment toward animals are an issue.

  10. mentalotherhalf - May 3, 2013 at 7:58 PM

For some perspective: George Washington launched a bombardment of cannon against Boston ion 1775. All things considered, he didn’t do a whole lot of structural damage, and was aiming for redcoats who’d been blockaded there, but still: that was a little more aggressive than anything ever done domestically by a Predator drone; and some people know how to hold a grudge.

  11. brewpack42 - May 3, 2013 at 8:22 PM

You know those surveys can be 2%-3% off. Holy sh!t John Farrell has a 102% approval rating…
