Cardinals activate Matt Adams from the disabled list

Matt Adams is off the disabled list after missing the past two weeks with a strained oblique muscle, which is a pretty rapid recovery from an injury that often lingers much longer.

It’ll be interesting to see how much playing time the Cardinals give Adams, because he was off to an amazing start as a part-timer before the injury, hitting .542 with a 1.634 OPS in 27 plate appearances. However, with Matt Holliday, Allen Craig, and Carlos Beltran around as starters in the outfield corners and first base there just isn’t much room for Adams in the lineup unless manager Mike Matheny wants to really sacrifice defense.

What a great problem to have, too many big bats to choose from! I am sure that the old guys (Beltran, Holliday) could use some time off to rest their old legs once in awhile to give Adams some playing time. Craig could move to LF or RF and Adams could play 1B.

Yeah…good problem to have. Glad to have him back.
My new nickname for him is ‘Tater.” Cause’ he mashes the ball and is built like a sack of Potatoes.

I don’t suppose they made a corresponding move by DFAing Wigginton, did they?
