Angel Hernandez denies game-tying home run, Athletics robbed in 4-3 loss to Indians

May 8, 2013, 10:20 PM EDT

A’s infielder Adam Rosales hit a heroic game-tying solo home run in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday against Indians closer Chris Perez, stunning the crowd at Cleveland’s Progressive Field and injecting new life into an Oakland club that has hit a few road bumps since the calendar flipped to May.

Except Angel Hernandez and his umpiring crew blew the call … twice. Here’s the replay from

It’s obviously unacceptable to miss that with the aid of replay. This was the scene after the game:

As a Mets fan I’m all too familiar with Angel Hernandez….he is one of the worst umpires in the game. This guy should have been tossed out on his ear years ago.

Angel Hernandez, John Hirschbeck, and that fat a$$ Joe West all need to be fired. these 3 think they are bigger than the game. an umpire should never be the focal point, and sometimes it happens. These 3 take it to a whole new level.

The question I don’t see answered any where here is: What angles and video did the umpires get to see? Although it’s obvious by the one on CSM it’s a homer did the umps get to see the same one? Only after knowing that could I call anyone incompetant.

What is so sad is that we’ll see Angel Hernandez umpiring in the post season and we won’t see MLB say YOU’RE FIRED for his incompetence. Don’t know what the umpires have on MLB but there is no discipline EVER for these guys. If any one was as ineffective at their place of business they would be let go in a hot hurry.

Terrible,Terrible Terrible. They must have had at least one shot that showed it as a homer. Need a 5th guy up in a booth or somebody somewhere reviewing the feeds for replays. Too many games already this year have been wrecked by bad calls. Somebody is gonna cold cock a umpire like that kid did to the ref in Utah, probably kill him and ruin his own life!
