Carlos Zambrano signs with the Long Island Ducks

May 8, 2013, 11:32 AM EDT

Beware, Gatorade coolers of the Atlantic League:

Zambrano joins quite a famous assemblage of toasted talent on the Ducks roster, as Dontrelle Willis and Vlad Guerrero are already there.  Really, though, if Zambrano actually pitches well and doesn’t have any Zambranoesque meltdowns, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he’ll get some looks for pitching-starved teams this summer.

Not that avoiding meltdowns is particularly likely.

Do you mean to tell me that hot headed Carlos Zambrano has signed with the same team for which Jose Offerman played when he unleashed a bat attack on an opposing pitcher?

I see no problems here. Carry on.

I’ll keep an eye on YouTube for highlights.

How much of a pain in the butt is this guy, only 31 and pitching in independent baseball because he is such a headcase. And why do I feel like this will not end well….

Before anyone signs this guy, they should retain a good quack, and then immediately enrolled him in anger management classes. This guy is totally off the charts, you might say he’s rowing with one oar.

      “good quack”

I see what you did there.

Wasn’t Jose Offerman playing for the Ducks when he had his bat-beating meltdown a few years ago? Guess the ownership of the team thinks that’s what the paying customers want to see.

Everyone knows the Atlantic League stocks All Sport, not Gatorade

He’d be in the majors if he were not a grade A jerk

Big pick up for the defending Atlantic league champs. Can’t wait to see antics, after getting stuck in Long Island traffic before a game.
