The greatest (premature) home run celebration ever

May 15, 2013, 3:00 PM EDT

This from the KBO, with the heads up from Dan of

Watch the drive.

Watch the bat flip.

Watch the swagger.

Watch the … ball falling into the left fielder’s glove.

  1. pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:13 PM

Must be hanging around with manny ramierez or something.

    Goofy jap players…..

    • Liam - May 15, 2013 at 3:19 PM

This is some excellent parody work.

    • BigGreen89 - May 15, 2013 at 3:20 PM

      Korean league, not Japan

    • Ralph - May 15, 2013 at 3:25 PM

    • mgflolox - May 15, 2013 at 7:36 PM

Hey hub, the 40’s called, they want their ethnic slurs back.

    • blackandbluedivision - May 16, 2013 at 11:15 AM

Your flat out ignorance astounds me.

  2. randygnyc - May 15, 2013 at 3:22 PM

    “Jap” players?

    • cur68 - May 15, 2013 at 3:24 PM

Yeah. That guy called the player a douche, too. Great moments in irony, eh? Some people are not only ignorant and classless they can’t even figure out what “KBO” stands for.

      • pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:27 PM

Doesn’t matter what kbo stands for, it’s not real baseball so it is irrelevant.

      • historiophiliac - May 15, 2013 at 3:28 PM

        Kanadian Baseball Operatives?

      • cur68 - May 15, 2013 at 3:32 PM

Actually it does matter, fool. You called the guy a “Jap Player”. He’s Korean. NOT Japanese. So you are not only stupid, you’re ignorant as well.

      • js20011041 - May 15, 2013 at 3:35 PM

I find it ironic that’s it’s always the trashiest white people that proclaim to be members of the superior race. Apparently, Willy Joe, in his trailer that’s saturated with cat piss, human feces, and infested with roaches, has a lot to be proud of.

      • pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:52 PM

I find it interesting that js20011041 automatically assumes that I would be white, or live in a trailer.

If you knew you would be embarrassed right now, your rantings are juvenile and futile.

      • indaburg - May 15, 2013 at 3:59 PM

Please Do Not Feed the Troll.

Por Favor, No Dale Comida a el Troll.

S’il Vous Plait, Ne Pas Donner Alimentation Aux Trolls.

        제발 트롤에게 먹이를하지 마십시오

        Thank You. Gracias. Merci. 감사합니다.

      • historiophiliac - May 15, 2013 at 4:09 PM

But, if you do, they prefer pie…or cake.

      • js20011041 - May 15, 2013 at 4:22 PM

Well, that wasn’t specifically aimed at you, pesky. It was more of a general observation. My ratings may be juvenile, but how exactly can they be “futile?” I’m not aspiring to accomplish anything with that observation, so please explain further.

      • paperlions - May 15, 2013 at 4:37 PM

Ah, good times….reminds me of when I went on a rant at a guy for calling Mexican’s “spics”…if you are gonna be a racist xenophobic jackwagon, at least get your slurs right….damn, is it that hard to be an informed asshole?

      • djpostl - May 15, 2013 at 4:37 PM

Lol, I think the only one who should be embarrassed around here is you but that requires both a marginal level of intelligence and at some level of self-awareness.

In the end who cares, time for you to go back to licking your mom’s basement window before she comes down and whups your ass for not taking the garbage out yet.

I do find it amusing that you used the derogatory “Jap” tag, something only a piece of redneck white trash or someone born before World War II would toss out so quickly.

I doubt you’re some 80 year old chillin’ on his Chromebook & your ignorant choice of words lets us know you aren’t representing the United Colors of Benetton either.

So yeah. White trailer park trash is the safe bet.

      • 18thstreet - May 15, 2013 at 5:27 PM

Korean baseball isn’t real? Is AA baseball real? Div III college? High school? American Legion? Little League?

I mean, it looked like real baseball to me. They had bats and gloves and uniforms and everything.

    • heyblueyoustink - May 15, 2013 at 3:30 PM

I think i’m gonna let everyone else do the beating on this one.

      • cur68 - May 15, 2013 at 3:33 PM

        Room for all, brah.

      • heyblueyoustink - May 15, 2013 at 3:38 PM

His defense below, now that I couldn’t help myself with.

      • historiophiliac - May 15, 2013 at 3:48 PM

That is very brotherly love of you.

      • heyblueyoustink - May 15, 2013 at 3:53 PM

I keep telling you, you have the majority of all us Phans wrong Historio. Plenty of reasonable folks around these parts.

  3. pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:26 PM

American baseball is the only baseball, everything else is a cheap copy!

    • heyblueyoustink - May 15, 2013 at 3:35 PM

You do realize MLB has a team in Canada, right? Just a measuring stick moment.

      • pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:41 PM

You are correct sir, sorta forgot about them.

So I will rephrase my statement…..

North American baseball is the only baseball, everything else is a cheap copy!

Thank You heyblueyoustink for the comment.

      • heyblueyoustink - May 15, 2013 at 3:47 PM

I don’t think I can help you totally, we’ll start here, there’s this fella named Ichiro. Start with him. maybe you’ll see where I’m going eventually.

      • djpostl - May 15, 2013 at 4:39 PM

Yet when they match up on national teams it doesn’t work out that way. Hrm. Go figure.

      • tycobbfromfangraphs - May 15, 2013 at 5:03 PM

yet those from Central Americans seem to be pretty good at it

      • blackandbluedivision - May 16, 2013 at 11:14 AM

You really need to give it a rest. Over half the league is filled with All-star players from other countries. It may be an American game but there are more and more players from other countries that are looking better.

    • pmcenroe - May 15, 2013 at 3:40 PM

man you must get really upset about every WBC

      • pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:44 PM

WBC is a joke, and it seems to mess up players seasons as we have seen several times.

    • vivabear - May 15, 2013 at 3:45 PM

“American baseball is the only baseball, everything else is a cheap copy!”

Yes the MLB is viewed as the league with the most talented players and the highest level of competition. I don’t think anyone has ever disputed this, at any time. That doesn’t mean everyone just ignores other leagues. If you would like to ignore all other leagues, go ahead I don’t think anyone will miss you.

Real baseball fans can enjoy all levels of competition; MLB, other nation’s pro leagues, independent leagues in the US, minor league ball, college ball, legion ball, little league, etc.

      • pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:58 PM

I was just merely stating my opinion, that is all- I just do not find asian baseball relevant, just my opinion.

Much like your 2nd paragraph about “real baseball fans….” that is your opinion- that is all.

And Thank You for commenting, good conversations today.

    • nbjays - May 15, 2013 at 3:59 PM

      So THAT’S why the U.S. wins the WBC every… oh, wait… nevermind…

    • asimonetti88 - May 15, 2013 at 4:01 PM

I’m going to Japan later this month and will be attending a Yomiuri Giants game. I will be sure to let them know that it is not real baseball for you.

      • pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 4:26 PM

        Thank You…

      • asimonetti88 - May 15, 2013 at 5:40 PM

I hope you realize that was a joke.

  4. jm91rs - May 15, 2013 at 3:36 PM

If that were the MLB the next batter would get hit in the back.

    • pesky99 - May 15, 2013 at 3:45 PM

      Part of the game….

      • stlouis1baseball - May 15, 2013 at 3:59 PM

Yeah Pesky…part of the game. Much like the WBC, Winter Baseball, the Mexican League, the Venezuelan League, The Dominican League, THE JAPANESE LEAGUE AND THE KOREAN LEAGUE. Wake up…wipe the sleep out of our eyes and leave the house once in a while. You will find the world is a wonderful place with peoples of several different colors and nationalities.

    • pandorasdadca - May 15, 2013 at 7:44 PM

Yup. That’ll get you one in the earhole for sure.

  5. flamethrower101 - May 15, 2013 at 3:37 PM

I love how at 0:33 only then does he realize that he made an out. If that happened here he would’ve gotten his ass benched. Oh well, can’t wait til tonite when we’ll see it again on “Intentional Talk.” Cause you know we will.

    • indaburg - May 15, 2013 at 4:02 PM

Yep. That’s a Got Heeem, for certain.

  6. theonlynolan - May 15, 2013 at 3:57 PM

I, myself, once celebrated prematurely. It was prom night and trust me when I tell you, my date was even more disappointed than the fans at that baseball game.

  7. danaking - May 15, 2013 at 3:57 PM

The best part is the shot of the other team, laughing at him.

    • cur68 - May 15, 2013 at 4:30 PM

I liked the 1B dude. He patted him on the back, broke the news to him gently and sent him off to the dugout. Looked a mite sorry for him, too. That’s the expression of a man who’s done the exact same thing.

Kid’s gonna be mortified when he finds out the whole thing’s gone ’round the world.

The consolation is that some day it’ll all be 20 years ago and he’ll laugh about it.

  8. baseballisboring - May 15, 2013 at 4:00 PM

Nothing makes me happier than seeing big, swaggered out bat flips followed by fly ball outs. I saw Ryan Howard try to do his patented little skip a couple weeks ago (I think in Cleveland) and the ball got caught at the track, my head almost came off laughing..

  9. someguyinva - May 15, 2013 at 4:14 PM

    Too high.

    • djpostl - May 15, 2013 at 4:43 PM

      Whaddya mean too high?

  10. breastfedted - May 16, 2013 at 7:15 AM

Wait a minute, is this the Chris Chase blog?

  11. nbjays - May 16, 2013 at 8:00 AM

Sometimes, when you are just a slap singles hitter, you just gotta celebrate warning track power. :-)
