Nice slide, Ian Kinsler

May 17, 2013, 8:23 AM EST

Darvish vs. Verlander was the draw, but neither of them were all that sharp. As such, this first inning slide from Ian Kinsler, given the GIF treatment by Drew Sheppard, was easily the highlight of last night’s Tigers-Ranger ballgame:

If I had the skills I’d insert audio over that with Kinsler saying “My face! My beautiful face! I must save it by putting my helmet down and risking a spinal injury!”

It wouldn’t have hurt to let the video run until the play completed.

Yeah, if there were five more seconds you could see him grinning about it, while still laying in the dirt.

    Outstanding!

That was great – he covered all the extra ground that Manny missed the other day.

Its like he had second thoughts there. “I’m sliding! Wait! Not the face! Aaaaaarrrrrg!”

    He has grit.

No, literally, he has grit embedded in his face, teeth, and hair.

    *slow clap*

That looked so freaking painful and yet funny at the same time. Good to see him laugh off the pain and humiliation of being a human worm-burner.

I like how when he hits the bag, no part of him below the solar plexus is in contact with the ground. If hit head hit the bag just a little bit more flush, he might have completely flipped over it.

I told ya that slide was epic. Good thing the dude wears a cup because he touched down right onto his groin. He was like an F18 coming in for a tail hook landing on an aircraft carrier but much too fast. The hook snagged all right, but the resultant shock flipped him onto his face. He saved it, but he’s gonna need some work done on his arrestor. Owie.

Great analogy with the F18 and the aircraft carrier. That is exactly what he looks like.

    NOT a slip-n-slide, dude.

  11. recoveringcubsfan - May 17, 2013 at 10:24 AM

Yes, but DOES HE HAVE A CONCUSSION?

Still better than Manny’s from the other day.
