Clay Buchholz will not make Monday’s scheduled start

May 26, 2013, 6:05 PM EDT

Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz will not start tomorrow evening for the start of a two-game home-and-home against the Phillies, reports Evan Drellich on Twitter. Buchholz is suffering from an injury in the “collar bone area”, but manager John Farrell called the move precautionary and mentioned that Buchholz could simply start later in the week.

Nick Cafardo reports that Alfredo Aceves will start in Buchholz’s place tomorrow. Aceves was recently recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket after a very rough start to the 2013 season. The right-hander carried an 8.66 ERA through April 23 prior to his demotion. In his first appearance back in the Majors, he tossed a scoreless inning of relief against the Indians.

Buchholz is having a great season thus far, sitting with a 7-0 record and a league best 1.73 ERA in 72 innings.

Great…always a pleasure to see the mentally-unstable Fettuccine Alfredo on the mound.

Morales is pegged to be coming off the DL on Tues, is stretched out (certainly more than Aceves) and will join the bullpen and be the “6th Starter”….

Morales has been on the DL since the end of Spring Training and can be activated at any point.

No one in Boston I have read or heard have asked the Sox why they didn’t activate Morales a day earlier and start him instead of Aceves.

    Welp, tomorrow’s already a loss.

Depends on if the bullpen can throw 7.2 scoreless innings or not.

It’s the Phillies, so yeah probably

He’s apparently dealing with a bad sunburn.

Nobody should ever question his talent. Dude has great stuff, but Clay’s durability will always be an issue. Reminds me of Kris Benson.

Anna was probably the cause of Benson’s durability problem.

It astounds me that Aceves still is with the BoSox…

He wanted to close, he blew it.

He went back to his reliever role blew it.

Wanted to start, guess what he blew it.

Went to AAA PawSox sucked pretty hard for the majority there too.

Most BoSox fans hate him, he has a horrible attitude.

WHO IS HE BLOWING to get these 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th etc chances???
