Video of the Day: Happy 10th Anniversary Ruben Rivera baserunning blunder

May 27, 2013, 3:12 PM EDT

Ten years ago today, the greatest baserunning blunder — really multiple blunders in one play — took place. And even better was Jon Miller’s call of it, with his famous “that was the worst baserunning in the history of the game!”

There was only one Ruben Rivera. Thank God.

He looks like he’s playing cricket.

Speaking of which, I still have a few great deals left in purebred cricket dogs for you….

Proper set up requires that it’s said that Ruben came in there to pinch-run. He was soon released.

Love how below in short order you’ll get a video with no relation to any of these teams put into context with the a) Yankees, b) Mets & c) Phillies. Red Sox fans are lagging.

So bad, but not as bad as stealing a teammates glove and bat and selling them.

Wow, I’m just reading up about this guy…talk about a far cry from his cousin, Mariano.

      Total loser.

He was so touted as a Yankee coming up but I remember him stealing Jeters gloves and others..

Did anyone else notice that Al Leiter was the winning pitcher and Armando Benitez got the save for the Mets Phillies game

Ah yes, the last few years of the baseball dark ages for Phillies fans.

The best part is seeing Alou just with his head down shaking it.
