Carl Crawford, sore but OK after a great, painful catch

May 31, 2013, 11:32 AM EDT

On the one hand, Don Mattingly is likely happy to see one of his players going all-out to make a play. On the other hand, he sure doesn’t need another injury. A bullet was dodged with this great catch by Carl Crawford in last night’s Dodgers-Angels game:

Crawford said after the game that he was sore all over, but he’s going to be OK.

And to think if Crawl could have made a catch one-tenth that tough in the final game of 2011, Boston might have made the play-offs, Terry Francona and Adrian Gonzalez might still be in Boston, and Ashton Kutcher might never have been born.

One catch in 2011 might have gotten your team into the playoffs? Wow, that must have been tough to deal with.

      Rangers fans.

If Crawford caught that ball, the game goes into the 10th inning, tied 3-3. So, no, Carl Crawford did not cost the Red Sox that game.

The Red Sox collapsed in September 2011 because of their starting pitching.

C’mon man. It’s way easier to blame it on a scapegoat. It’s Friday, just give us a break.

      • 18thstreet - May 31, 2013 at 4:45 PM

Here’s what the starters did in September: 27 starts, 128 innings, 114 runs (101 earned). That’s what happened.

        End of story.

I was just playing around. I watched every one of those games. It was horrific. It was like watching a trainwreck happening over the course of 30 days.

good ball players are hard to come by……he’s a good one

Like in the way the “get one free” in Buy One/Get One Free is hard to come by?

I know that Vin Scully is a national treasure and all but he puts me to sleep. Nine innings of Vin is like a dose of haloperidol without the side-effects.

Crawful Crawford made a catch that he had to put some effort into to make- yawn.
Oh-No, he is sore all over- he’ll be on the DL for this- it’s his nature.
Him and beckett are under performing, so these two latest stories about them will give them some excuses to work with.
THANK YOU Magic for taking these two bums off the Sox hands, us fans are eternally grateful!

      You ungrateful pink-hatted asshole.

There is no way on earth the Red Sox win the 2007 World Series without Beckett. None.

      • pesky99 - May 31, 2013 at 3:06 PM

What is the deal with not being able to have a debate or conversation on this blog without people jumping all over someone and insulting people- especially since it is Friday! People need to take it easy here, there is no need for acting like idiots!
        Sorry, no pink hats.
To Sox fans, 2004 was the world series that really matters- 2007, eh!
And again, calm down 18th- geese, just talk and comment maturely okay, remember, it’s Friday!

I totally get what you’re saying. Rip the shit out of the people who have real names, and then get panties in crinkle because another anonymous poster indicated that you’re a bozo.

Ever think about moving on? You know, from conversations, ballplayers, beefs and quibbles?

      • 18thstreet - May 31, 2013 at 4:24 PM

Yeah, I’m sorry for implying that someone who thinks the 2007 World Series didn’t happen isn’t a real fan. What was I thinking?

Fun fact: the Red Sox won the 2007 World Series. And I can’t imagine how anyone who *actually* suffered through any of the years before 2004 would just take that for granted.

And that is why you are an ungrateful jerk. It’s the very definition of ungrateful. Imagine: a Red Sox fan thinking a World Series win wasn’t important. Go tell a Cubs fan that. Go.

Alright…what’s the deal with the “pink hats?” What am I missing?
If you say a “pink hat” I will hunt you down like a crazed lunatic.
