HBT Daily: a real rivalry weekend is ahead of us

May 31, 2013, 1:00 PM EDT

We were treated to interleague rivalries this past week. Well, some anyway. I think it strains the word “rivalry” to call Detroit vs. Pittsburgh and Seattle vs. San Diego “rivalries.”

But this weekend we have some good ones. One traditional — the Red Sox vs. the Yankees — and two that are more recently competitive-based rivalries in the Braves vs. Nationals and Giants vs. Cardinals. Fun stuff, which Kay and I talk a bit about in today’s HBT Daily:

Too bad the Heat couldn’t wrap the Pacers in five. It would have made more sense to have them play a trio of ballgames with the Knicks and call it a “rivalry” than it does to have the Feesh play the Mutts.

Yankees – Red Sox lacks the luster it used to have, for me anyway.

By the way Gator – I went on Amazon & purchased that Robert Johnson book used for $3.69.
