Josh Beckett shut down for four weeks

Jun 5, 2013, 8:57 AM EDT

Josh Beckett was worried that the numbness in his fingers was a warning of something serious. This is not going to help those worries:

Add in any rehab time to that and you’re looking at an August-at-best return time for Beckett.

Great picture of Josh here! Thanks again, Los Angeles!

how is it so many of us regular baseball fans saw
this was a bad trade and people who get paid to
know didn’t see this as a bad trade.
the fact that the Dodgers included some good minor
league talent makes it all worst.

I don’t fully understand what the Dodgers were thinking, but I assume they were trying to make a splash, as opposed to trying to build a winning team. From the Dodgers’ perspective, the trade would have made sense with some really thick rose-colored glasses:
If Adrian Gonzalez gets his power back!
If Carl Crawford’s injuries are temporary!
If Josh Beckett is motivated by spite!
… then we’ll have a great team. Just insane. I mean, why would you rather have Josh Beckett than Allen Webster — even if cost weren’t a factor? How much is a perfectly healthy Gonzalez worth, anyway?

Adrian Gonzalez is still a pretty good player. So far this season he has played in 54 of 57 games, hitting .330 with 8 HRs. He is playing reasonably well.

Beckett and Crawford were the more questionable parts of that trade IMO

Thanks for 2007 Josh. Thank you Dodgers for paying out the dead weight portion of his contract.

      Best Trade Ever!!!!

Jack…. ya gotta love it, but it goes to show you can spend all the money you want to try and buy a title, but if you don’t spend it wisely, this ii what happens.

This is nothing some more fried chicken and beer couldn’t cure.

I don’t get it. What’s this reference to fried chicken and beer?

Please explain it to me, because I’ve been living in cave since 2010.

I wish football season would start just so these PFT goons can go back to complaining about Michael Vick or whatever it is they do over there.

    Beckett is really lazy.
