Reds starter Mat Latos was last saddled with a loss on August 24 last season, when he allowed seven runs in five innings to the Cardinals. In the 20 starts since, Latos has won ten games and received ten no-decisions. Tonight marked the 20th consecutive game in which Latos started a game and did not lose.

Latos held the Cardinals to two runs on eight hits and no walks in seven innings, striking out five in the process. Jonathan Broxton pitched a scoreless eighth and Aroldis Chapman shut the door in the ninth for the save. He improved his ERA to 2.87 and is 6-0 in 13 starts on the season. He will look to extend his streak to 21 games on Thursday afternoon when the Reds will wrap up a four-game series in Chicago against the Cubs.

*Not including that egg he laid in G5 of the playoffs

Boy, that was hard to watch, but after winning the first two in San Fran, that series shouldn’t have even had a Game 5.

The whole pitching rotation was ruined when Cueto went down. Don’t forget Latos came in and saved Game 1 out of the bullpen.

I hope he gets All-Star honors this year, he’s been one of the NL’s most underrated pitchers. He has left a game with a lead about 3 or 4 times this year with a lead that was blown by the pen, so he could easily be 9-0 or 10-0 on the year. Nice to have him as our ace since Cueto has been out.

Couldn’t agree more. Especially considering his home park, he’s been fantastic since moving to Cinci.

I really really hate mat latos but being a giants fan I really must thank him for helping us advance in so many playoff games first with the padres then with the reds!!!

You’re a pretty awful fan if you don’t remember Latos winning Game 1 in the playoffs at San Fran out of the bullpen on 3 days rest.

Latos was also the recipient of a sick behind the back flip by Joey Votto in this game.

Wish I could comment on the Reds/Cards and Latos, but unfortunately Gameday, was my only option, since my Extra Innings package was blacked out, and Fox decided to air Boston/LA in Central Idaho. Fuck Fox.
