Miguel Cabrera threw his gum at Ryan Raburn yesterday

Ex-teammates: they’re just like us!

Ryan Raburn used to play for the Tigers. And this weekend he hit two homers against them, continuing his patten of frustrating Tigers fans, albeit for different reasons.  One person who was perhaps a tad frustrated was Miguel Cabrera, who showed his offense by throwing his gum at Raburn as he rounded the bases yesterday. Go check out the Gif of the incident at Bless You Boys.

Jordan Bastian reports that Raburn is fine with it, as Cabrera is his “buddy.”

But jeez, you’d think that the Tigers sweeping the series from the Tribe would be enough for Cabrera.

Oh come on! It was a playful gesture,,,obviuously and Raburn took it that way—you can see
his smile. A really clueless post Craig…you’re better than this!

Or maybe Raburn broke up the Tigers Rookie starting pitchers No-No with the Homer?

I once threw an entire turkey at Raburn. He ruined Thanksgiving.

Usually it’s the Lions that ruin Thanksgiving.

    maybe he was joking around

  6. tigers182 - Jun 10, 2013 at 6:21 PM

He was joking with him as every legitimate outlet has highlighted. Both Cabrera and Raburn laughed about it.

Some teams are all business on the field, but I like that the Tigers seem to have fun — whether it’s Torii teasing an ump about helping him up, or the gum thing, or Prince giving Torii a hard time about stopping at third instead of going for home. They like to have fun on the field.

Not a tigers fan at all and this was obviously meant in a playful way. Short on stories?

  8. dracko19 - Jun 10, 2013 at 7:27 PM

Watch the gif closely and you’ll see Raburn flinch.

    So many reading failures…

I don’t think Craig thought it was serious.

      • historiophiliac - Jun 10, 2013 at 8:05 PM

I hope this doesn’t mean that Tigers fans have become as sensitive as Phillies and Yanks fans.

      • dondada10 - Jun 10, 2013 at 8:18 PM

That’s like trying to shine brighter than the sun.

ARod’s out. Somebody’s gotta do this stuff.

  11. lazlosother - Jun 10, 2013 at 9:09 PM

Come on folks, Craig’s post was as tongue in cheek as Cabrera’s gum throwing. Both made me laugh.

    • historiophiliac - Jun 10, 2013 at 9:21 PM

But you have to admit that the tweet and stupid hashtag were lame.

Can’t believe no one has noticed that there was a second spitter.
