Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira left tonight’s game against the Angels with a wrist injury. He was replaced at first by David Adams in the bottom of the fourth. During a live interview on the FOX broadcast, manager Joe Girardi said that “he doesn’t have the snap in his swing“.

Teixeira missed the first two months of the season due to a partially torn tendon sheath in the same wrist. Since returning on May 31, he entered tonight’s game hitting just .157 with a .632 OPS. Girardi also said Teixeira will sit out tomorrow’s game at least.

The Yankees were winning with Overbay at first. Once Tex returned from the DL, the Yankees seemed to go downhill.

There’s no “seemed” here. They were 30-23 before he returned and 7-7 since. He’s hitting like like Adam Dunn’s little brother (157/279/353, 31% K-rate). Small sample sizes, etc.

It was obvious to anyone who actually watches that he couldn’t get around on left-handers..Tex hit 24 HR and 84 ribs missing 38 games last year, he was on pace for his usual 30+ HR 100+ ribs and won the Gold Glove. If any of you expect that kind of production out of Overbay, I have some Florida swampland for sale..

I said this same thing yesterday and people were asking me if I was being sarcastic.

Yankees have been reduced to Robinson Cano plus whoever’s not on the DL that day….amazing they have stayed afloat this long….

The only thing they’ll miss from Tex is his glove, he can’t hit his ass with both hands. (.157) Take the rest of the year off Tex.

People would love to get rid of A-Rod and his contract- I would say the same of Tex. He’s been a disappointment. Besides the injuries, he’s become a one-dimensional strike-out artist.

Amen deathmonkey41, I couldn’t have said it any better.

I hear Barry Bonds is available.

Only 70+ million to go on his contract…hahahahahaha!

Wrists take a long time to heal. Overbay to the rescue!

Gee if only there was some way we could have seen this coming. Oh wait….

Isn’t Juan Uribe in a contract year? As sad as it sounds, he would be an upgrade over some of the guys they’ve tried thus far. Realistically, I don’t think the Yanks can count on anything from Tex, Youk, or ARod this season. They need to start looking for some competent major league players to replace them and stop trolling the waiver wire for 4A players…..unless of course Cashman makes the decision to throw in the towel on this season.

    • cackalackyank - Jun 16, 2013 at 3:03 PM

Towel has pretty well been thrown in since @ Nov. 1, 2012.

This is far bigger than most of you realize, we were hanging around with players not able to play 150+ games at a high level, Granderson and Tex coming back was our only salvation, enough to push us to the All Star break when ARod and Jeter would have rounded us into a championship-caliber team. Now we don’t have Grandy and Tex, not enough to keep us afloat till the break. We’re a team without any firepower, no team can survive without 4 of it’s 5 best players. Frankly, Girardi has performed miracles to keep us close. Now Youk is out again so we’re playing with a 3rd string SS and 3B, we have no weapons but Cano and Gardner, it’s not enough…but I still love ya boys!
