Quote of the Day: Matt Harvey’s footsteps and Zack Wheeler

Jun 17, 2013, 4:46 PM EDT

Mets prospect Zack Wheeler is set to make his MLB debut Tuesday against the Braves and when asked if Wheeler should follow in the footsteps of last year’s stud Mets pitching prospect, Matt Harvey, manager Terry Collins gave a pretty great response:

Harvey, of course, is dating model Anne V. But the Mets would probably settle for the 2.30 ERA.

You must have missed Jim Leyland’s quote about being 2nd in the league in doubles.

Too bad he’s not making this big debut for the team that drafted him, could sure use him at the moment…but no, we needed that rental of injured Beltran SO BADLY.

At the time, that looked like a solid move for the Giants. They wanted to repeat and Beltran was raking. Its easy to second-guess it now. But at that time, it was a good move.

I know, I know, I don’t disagree with that at all…I’m just a little bitter considering the current state of the rotation.

Look at the bright side… guys have two world titles.

I agree with the other poster. As a Mets fan I’m not upset about the deal. But if I’m the Giants GM I don’t think I could have up such a highly touted prospect for an injury prone rental. At least not a straight up swap.

But their l hope is the Mets gain (sorry about the other post. Sometimes it’s tough via iPhone)

Adam Levine’s loss is Matt Harvey’s gain. Great pic, btw. Thanks!
