Astros activate Justin Maxwell from the disabled list

Justin Maxwell hit just .128 in 11 games while on a minor-league rehab assignment for a fractured left hand, but the Astros have activated him from the disabled list anyway.

Maxwell has been out for nearly two months and in his absence Brandon Barnes has played well as the Astros’ starting center fielder, so it’ll be interesting to see how manager Bo Porter divvies up the outfield playing time.

Going with J.D. Martinez in left field, Barnes in center field, and Maxwell in right field probably makes the most sense.

If Barnes played in NY, we would hear a lot about him. Kid plays the game hard, and the right way.

Best defensive outfielder on the team, and a good lead off hitter.

That’s why the Yankees let Maxwell go, just too inconsistent.

Nothing has changed…. Other than his uniform. With the Stros up and coming minor league system, Maxwell will be wearing another uniform in the next year or so.

When the Stros are contending 2015, Maxwell won’t be part of the plan. For sure he won’t be in CF.
George Springer will be roaming cf… Barnes could develop into a star.

At least the guy knows how to wear his baseball socks. The Astros uniform is a great look.
