Cancel the no-hitter alert: Matt Harvey gives up an infield single to Jason Heyward

UPDATE: Forget it. Jason Heyward just reached on an infield single. A weird looking one as Harvey fielded the ball between the mound and first and then flipped it to … no one. Scored an infield hit, which makes sense considering that errors are rarely called on bad decisions by fielders — in this case on Lucas Duda not covering first — as much as they are by bad execution.

3:10 PM: Matt Harvey is absolutely dominating the Braves through the first six innings of today’s game.

Harvey has allowed no hits while walking two and striking out 12. His fastball has hit 100 miles per hour at times today. The Braves lineup is Upton-free and is also missing Evan Gattis and Brian McCann, but the way Harvey is throwing it doesn’t seem like anyone could hit him.

Unless they can’t. We’ll keep you posted as the next three innings progress.

That is without question one of my all time favorite FG sketches! Good stuff, and well played!

It embeds YouTube automatically if you put only the link, and it has to be the first thing in the sentence

You big jinx! You would have been in so much trouble on the “Who’s Your Daddy?” chatboard.
The acceptable notification is “You guys might want to tune into the Mets/Braves game. It’s the 7th inning….and no, I’m not telling you why. Just switch games.”

Good thing Collins ran him out there for the eighth when he was over 100 pitches on a muggy afternoon in Atlanta. Way to save the bullpen for the second half of the twin bill, Terry. Only going to cost you the day game.

Luckily they won, but I know what you mean. Shoulda pulled him for the 8th.
