Clay Buchholz still feeling discomfort, to undergo an MRI

Jun 26, 2013, 2:30 PM EDT

For a while it was unclear if Clay Buchholz would even be placed on the disabled list, but the Sox ultimately did it out of an abundance of caution. Now, however, things are looking a bit more serious.

The idea of Clay Buchholz taking some time off, skipping a start or two and then coming back fresh suddenly looks a wee bit too optimistic.

Why did they wait almost a month before getting an MRI done? Maybe some other issues going on here.

Just get the TJ surgery and get it over with.

So obvious it’s going to happen.

Yes, because we all know that TJ surgery fixes a screwed up neck.

Follow the Red Sox recent history.

        Everything turns into TJ surgery.

I think Carl Crawford’s hamstring injury ended in TJ surgery.

Hope the Red Sox don’t exercise the “hugging you kid” clause to try and void his contract.

What the hell are you talking about?

Keep in mind Buchholz still leads the majors in ERA, and is still 9-0.

The guy is a helluva good pitcher…what he really needs is a little additional weight and muscle stability on his frame, but apparently he’s one of those beanpole-types that simply cannot put on weight no matter how much they eat.
