You’re not done with Jose Valverde yet, Tigers fans

Jun 27, 2013, 5:02 PM EDT

Usually when a player is designated for assignment they end up getting released. Established major leaguers anyway, as they’d prefer to not opt for a minor league assignment, choosing instead to try to latch on elsewhere. Not Jose Valverde, though:

Which means that, theoretically anyway, Valverde could be back with the Tigers at some point this season. Indeed, when he was DFA’d the other day some Tigers folks were reported to believe that they could fix what’s wrong with Papa Grande if he would accept a Triple-A assignment. Good luck with that.

I’m happy, though. Because we can still keep using this pic of Valverde for a while. I rather like it:

It appears that he is trying to download some poo in that pic.

Considering he got no nibbles in the off season, this is the sensible option.

Plus he gets to play in Toledo.

He’s not THAT much worse than Phil Coke.

Today’s game was vivid evidence to Tiger’s fans that things don’t go better with Coke.

I guess a framed picture of one of my kids will cover that fist-sized hole that I just put in the wall. It will hang a little low, but…

    sigh.

If you of you see him pitch for the Mudhens, let us know if he does his whole act there.

The only acting involving the Mud Hens should be Corporal Max Klinger.

Got my ticket for the 6th, will try and remember.

We will be reading into the Toledo Blade soon about how some fan was throwing peanuts at Valverde.

    • unclemosesgreen - Jun 27, 2013 at 10:30 PM

She’ll throw anything. Martini olives, cocktail umbrellas, and yes, peanuts.

Y’all can’t McWiggle out of this one so easily.

the Tigers bullpen is atrocious so why not throw another bum in the mix… got 4 of the best starters in the league only to have this awful bullpen lose it for them time and time again… Valverde will never right the ship, it’s over…wish they would wake up and see it.. time for Bruce Rondon to play and grow as a pro

Phil Coke is a very good pitcher vs LH if used in limited fashion (LOOGY). He should never face RH. Leyland should be given an atomic wedgie every time he uses Coke vs RH.
