Yasiel Puig bruised his hip

Jul 4, 2013, 10:10 AM EDT

I am hereby starting a petition to eliminate walls in all major league ballparks as they represent a serious threat to the game’s young stars. First Bryce Harper and now Yasiel Puig:

He did, as you can see, make the catch, robbing Nolan Arenado of extra bases.  And he stayed in the game for a while at least, coming up to bat one more time before being removed in a double switch.

Puig, who is hitting .440 with eight homers and who just yesterday was named the NL Player of the Month for June,  is day-to-day with a bruised hip. Don Mattingly thinks he can play, but caution is probably warranted.

Puig is the first athlete in quite a while that I have marveled at his physique in a “How in the world is he built?” type of way. He’s just massive and so fast and so reckless and so intriguing at this point.

And yes, I have been selected to be in the passenger seat of the bandwagon for him. It’s quite a comfortable ride and so quiet since Papelbon isn’t here.

How much longer are the baseball gods going to punish the Dodgers for Frank McCourt?

In the tightly packed anybody can win this NL West, the Dodgers have moved from last to a 2nd place tie at -2.5, so things aree looking up for them.

Into eternity, if there’s any justice in the world :-)

The curse of HBT. Tell you what CC, I much prefer you *not* to wax anything Phillies positive this year, about anything positive whatsoever.

    I forbid thee.

I agree with the padded walls. You don’t see such dangerous and random objects bordering the field of play in any other sport. MLBPA would be smart to work to change this where possible.

2″ of foam covering steel isn’t going to cut it. Puigs a beast and most likely bent the steel.

The walls are striking back this year and they’re going after our kids. Harper and Puig get blasted and Trout stole a home run yesterday only to have the wall pop the ball loose from his glove.

      Punks.
