The Braves slowed down Brandon Beachy‘s rehab after he felt some tenderness in his surgically-repaired right elbow last month, but he has been cleared to return to game action.

David O’Brien of Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Beachy will resume his minor league rehab assignment tomorrow with Triple-A Gwinnett. The 26-year-old is expected to throw 45-55 pitches and/or three innings and figures to make at least one or two more starts before being reevaluated.

Beachy, who is currently making his way back from Tommy John surgery last June, has a 3.07 ERA over 41 starts in the majors. There’s no obvious opening for him in Atlanta’s starting rotation right now, but depth is a nice problem to have.

Braves fans pinning this guy as the savior to their rotation. They shouldn’t hold their breath.

      Hmm.. Let’s see.

The Braves are in first place, by 5 games. That happens to be the biggest division lead in all of baseball…

The Braves pitching staff has an ERA of 3.24. That happens to be second in all of baseball.

The Braves starting rotation has an ERA of 3.51. That happens to be fifth in all of baseball.

What Braves fans are looking for a savior?

Why? How many pitchers have come back from tommy John? He had a common setback when returning from the surgery. Don’t think braves need someone to save their season. They 5 up in the east. He is a beast and have no doubt he will be back at top form soon
