Manny Ramirez had a big night in Triple-A

Jul 10, 2013, 11:32 AM EDT

MannyWatch: MbM went 2 for 4 with a home run, two runs, a walk and three RBI in last night’s Round Rock win. That, combined with Lance Berkman being all gimpy could mean that Manny’s return is closer than we imagined.

And thank God for that. Baseball is gonna need a big marketable star on the scene to distract the public from all of the drug suspensions that are gonna happen.

Lets talk about ManRams former idiot team mate. With his 4 for 4 perfomance last night, David Ortiz tied Harold Baines for most hits ever by a DH.

Now I hope he chokes on a cheeseburger.

      Yeesh…

    • petey1999 - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:51 AM

Let’s not. You’re obviously confused about who the idiot is.

      • bfunk1978 - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:57 AM

He’s talking about in 2004 they had proclaimed themselves “idiots”. Well, that was mostly Johnny Damon, but he was sure to include the entire team.

        http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/6193582/

“We are not the cowboys anymore — we are just the idiots this year,” Damon said. “So we are going to go out and try to swing the bats, find the holes, and, hopefully, good things happen.”

      • hittfamily - Jul 10, 2013 at 12:01 PM

        Don’t end a sentence with a preposition……idiot.

      • hasbeen5 - Jul 10, 2013 at 2:19 PM

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but “is” is not a preposition.

    • bfunk1978 - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:57 AM

      I love cheeseburgers.

    • stlouis1baseball - Jul 10, 2013 at 4:17 PM

According to the annoying preposition song I had to learn in 6th grade…”is”…is a preposition.

  2. El Bravo - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:38 AM

What??? Man, I missed the Manny train I guess. I hadn’t even realized he was back from the Orient.

    • blacksables - Jul 10, 2013 at 1:52 PM

And he’s playing for the Express?

Seems like a mystery to me.

  3. norvturnersneck - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:49 AM

    Gonna?

  4. rickdobrydney - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:51 AM

So you replace the drug-suspended players with an old , finished, clueless cheat ??? Who cdares about this bum ????

  5. rickdobrydney - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:52 AM

    Cares……

  6. sandrafluke2012 - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:57 AM

Best hitter if this generation outside bonds

    • El Bravo - Jul 10, 2013 at 12:05 PM

      True.

    • hittfamily - Jul 10, 2013 at 12:20 PM

      Great cutoff man too.

    • stlouis1baseball - Jul 10, 2013 at 1:15 PM

Albert Pujols’ first 10 seasons disagrees with you Sandra.

      • sandrafluke2012 - Jul 10, 2013 at 1:48 PM

        disagree. Manny had it all

      • stlouis1baseball - Jul 10, 2013 at 1:51 PM

Good stuff Sandra. I would counter with…Albert didn’t have it all? One thing Manny didn’t have was A.P.’s plate discipline. Without even looking…I would say the K’s/BB rates would tell the story.

      • clemente2 - Jul 10, 2013 at 2:36 PM

St,Louis–go look at the stats; basically equal (and awesome) hitters for the first ten years (Manny starting full time year three). Manny did strike out somewhat more and walked alittle less. Career slash lines so far very similar; offensive WAR slight advantage to Manny for longjevity.

      • stlouis1baseball - Jul 10, 2013 at 2:42 PM

Will do Roberto. Sounds like I wasn’t too far off though with my larger point with the K’s/BB’s.

      • clemente2 - Jul 10, 2013 at 2:57 PM

And to support you, it looks like Pujols’ adjusted numbers (park/era) make him look better. And you could add defense to Pujols’ cause. Just closer than you thought, I think, on pure hitting. Their career OPS is .996 (Manny) to 1.009 (Albert).

      • stlouis1baseball - Jul 10, 2013 at 3:15 PM

Thanks Man. I hear you on the defense. But I just thought that was way to easy. Manny was/is…atrocious on defense. Lolly gagging, loafing, nonchalant, etc… Embarrassing really (defensively speaking).

  7. dontbendorbreak - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:58 AM

Still looks like a skel. Of course, he’ll probably see time in the Show. Why? Manny has pictures of Selig with a goat.

    • rbj1 - Jul 10, 2013 at 1:50 PM

Selig doesn’t care, but the goat is ashamed.

  8. rickdobrydney - Jul 10, 2013 at 12:03 PM

Best PED hitter of this generation outside PED Bonds—-

    • El Bravo - Jul 10, 2013 at 12:05 PM

      True.

      • stlouis1baseball - Jul 10, 2013 at 1:17 PM

Damn it…sorry Bravo. I intended to give you a thumbs up for the last one.

  9. beefytrout - Jul 10, 2013 at 12:22 PM

Rangers have plenty of dudes to replace Berkman in the lineup. Hell, it gives Profar more chances to be in the lineup every day.

  10. titknocker - Jul 10, 2013 at 12:52 PM

2nd favorite player of all time after Junior Griffey. ManRam was always fun to watch, as he was an enigmatic character in Boston.

  11. braddavery - Jul 10, 2013 at 2:09 PM

“And thank God for that. Baseball is gonna need a big marketable star on the scene to distract the public from all of the drug suspensions that are gonna happen.”

Let me tell you something about the ManRam…

  12. kelshannon19 - Jul 10, 2013 at 2:30 PM

Instead of talking about Manny’s one home run, talk about another dude who played in the same game. Someone who’s an up and coming star. That guy is George Springer. And are you telling me that his 4-5 2HR, 3B and a single 5 RBI night isn’t news worthy?

    • nothanksimdriving123 - Jul 10, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Or we could talk about how the Round Rockers got 1-hit the night before by Asher Wojciechowski.
Or we could talk about how one of the OK City relief pitchers last night was named Philip Humber, who pitched a perfect game last season before going into Witness Protection.

  13. bigred12 - Jul 10, 2013 at 5:30 PM

Manny distract people from steroid suspensions? Never thought I’d read that.

  14. pisano - Jul 10, 2013 at 5:34 PM

Who gives a shit, this roid head should just go away, total low life scumbag.

  15. moogro - Jul 10, 2013 at 11:04 PM

    He’s bald! He’s rocking Anti-Samson.
